Stone Age Project

Heading:

Stone Age Project

This project will summarize what we have learned so far about the Stone Age period, both Neolithic and Paleolithic. By choosing one of the two ages, you will present to the class your knowledge on the lifestyle of these people in this primitive time period. This will be an at-home project! The due date is ______

Try not to spend any money on materials. Don’t use everyday materials found around the house. Be creative so you can be more authentic to the time period.

Here are the 3 projects to choose from:

  1. Write a story: you must write a 3 page (typed, double-spaced, 10 font, and ½ inch margins), creative story during either the Neolithic or Paleolithic time. You may choose your characters, settings, conflicts, complications, etc.; however, the goal is to use your knowledgeto show what you’ve learned from the textbook (and use 3 pieces of evidence you have learned from the chosen age).
  2. Make Poster: use this project to illustrate an image of what the Neolithic or Paleolithic time period looked like, through your own interpretation. Like the story, use 3 pieces of evidence from the textbook. Poster size should be about 22”x28”.
  3. Build a shoe box Diorama: Use your creativity to construct a 3D image of a setting during the Paleolithic or Neolithic time period, within the space of a shoe box. Feel free to use multiple materials to construct this diorama. Use 3 pieces of evidence from the textbook. Only items that are fully INSIDE of the diorama will be graded.
  • If you choose to do the poster or the shoe box diorama, you will need to write a one page, 2-3 paragraph reaction/description paper.

Getting Started:Begin by brainstorming what you would like to do for this project, starting with which Stone Age you would like to use. Then you should:

-Make a materials list (materials depending on whether you choose the poster or shoe box diorama).

-Make a time table of your project. This would be making checkpoints for what you would like to accomplish each day until the project is due.

-Do some research using your textbook, National Geographic(s), internet, encyclopedias, etc.
