Agenda:

1.  NAPA - Matt said nothing new since the January meeting. The next meeting is April 27, 2013. For the April meeting it will be good to handout materials and publications we have, like Nancy’s Guidelines.

2.  CARF - Nothing new. Sue Mathieson is our contact at CARF. The next step is drafting a white paper.

3.  ADSS (Alzheimer's Disease Support Services Program) Seth spoke about the webinar done for IDD and Alzheimer's for those seeking grants. 250 registered and 100 participated.

4.  Task Group Updates

Group S - Lucy is working on a manual to accompany the screening tool. Melissa will follow up to see if “thank you's” have been sent out to those who participated.

Group H - Kathie Bishop said their document is ready to go out. She is finalizing the references. She received wonderful feedback from some of the authors. She hopes to be able to submit it next week. Kathie is working on an article for the NADD bulletin and hopes to get out next week also.

The article Julie Moran submitted to Mayo Clinic Proceedings needs to be consolidated and some revisions. There is a three week turnaround for the revisions. Matt suggested Julie request an extension.

Group C - Nancy said that she, Larry and Matt had a conversation last week about the future of Group C. Phil is working on a web version of the guidelines. Matt sent Julie a summary of the 24 recommendations. Nancy is hoping to work with Mary on some simply worded pamphlets for families and caregivers.

Group A - Kathy Srsic-Stoehr said she and Mary get contacted by older family members on how to help their child or sibling.

5.  Planning NTG members webinar

This would be for all members to participate and address where do we go from here i.e. strategic planning

·  Baldev said we do need to educate members

·  Kathie Bishop suggested a “survey monkey”

·  Melissa agreed with Kathie

·  Nancy said they had talked about sending an e-blast to Group C members to see where they want to go

·  Matt noted several new members have signed on and it would be good to get their input

·  Nancy said the Steering Group has been the planning group and it would be good to get feedback from everyone

·  Seth suggested each group poll their members, send out an eBlast. A survey monkey could be developed as well. Announcements could go out to entire NTG membership.

6.  Webinar Update - as of today 59 people have registered. Kathie said it is actually 59 sites and each site can have multiple participants. So realistically that could be 200 people participating.

Kathie Bishop will start working on the May series (which series will be more practical than the March series.)

7.  Workshop updates

·  Maine in May 2013 is locked in

·  BC is locked in – in September

·  Toronto is in the works 50% will be from LTC long-term care and 50% will be from the DD side 9/11 Wednesday and 9/12 Thursday are the actual dates for Toronto

·  Matt said the workshops are posted on the NTG website

·  Another is being scheduled with the Arc of Maryland, probably in Baltimore proposed

·  Ed Ansello, Director, Virginia Center on Aging, is exploring a workshop with the NTG, 11/13 & 11/14, Richmond, VA

8.  Policy Fellow updates

Kathy Pike is the Associate Director, Health and Aging Policy Fellowship Program (). For at least five years the Atlantic Philanthropies have had a grant to support professionals in health and aging to receive the experience and skills necessary to make a positive contribution to the development and implementation of health policies that affect older Americans. None has been for IDD. They offer both residential or nonresidential tracks. This would be a wonderful opportunity for an NTG member to apply. 4/15/2013 is the deadline for application, An e-mail will go out to the entire NTG membership regarding this opportunity.

Matt and Seth discussed the possibility of having a Kennedy Fellow to focus on IDD and dementia. Matt has been a Kennedy Fellow.

9.  Our next meeting will be held April 1st, Monday, at 8 PM, EDT.

Meeting adjourned 9:18 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Leone Murphy
