Statement of Preparation:
The student(s) should describe relevant education and experiences that will lead to success in completing the proposed project. (e.g., course work and research work, lab experience, project development, course grades in relevant courses, GPA, etc.) The paragraph should be concise, 300 words or less. Please provide one statement of preparation per student researcher.

Example 1
I have over 2-years of experience working on a couple different research teams wherein I was required to collect and analyze data, attend research group meetings, interview participants, and design a poster presentation. I have presented at the Undergraduate Symposium before as well as the MnSCU conference in Winona. I am studying psychology and have taken coursework in research and methods as well as statistics. Many of the other classes within my major require extensive research projects which I have performed well on. I am a 4.0 student and plan to pursue grad school in the near future.
Example 2
I volunteer at a biomedical lab in town wherein I do mostly data entry. I am pursuing a degree in biology which requires that I conduct experiments on a regular basis in class. I have had coursework in research and statistics. I am a member of the Biology Club on campus. I have a high GPA and take pride in my work ethic. I am a highly organized person and work hard at all that I do.
Example 3
I have over a year and a half of experience working on a research team wherein I was required to collect and analyze data, draft research papers, formulate questions, attend research group meetings, interview participants, and design both a poster presentation and an oral presentation. I have presented at the Undergraduate Symposium before as well as the MnSCU conference in Winona. I am studying business and have taken coursework in research and methods as well as statistics. Many of the other classes within my major require projects which I have performed well on. I am a 4.0 student and plan to pursue grad school in the near future. I intern at an accounting firm in town wherein I observe and assist the different employees. I am a member of the Business Club on campus. I take pride in my work ethic. I am a highly organized person and work hard at all that I do.
Example 4
I volunteer at a dance studio in town teaching ballet classes to girls ages 6-8 and 10-12. I have been dancing myself since I was 2 years old. I perform a variety of dances, but my favorite and the one I feel most comfortable with is ballet. I have performed at many dance recitals both in my younger years and in college as part of class assignments. I am studying dance at the university and have many classes to refine my skills. I am a 3.0 student and plan to pursue grad school in the near future. I have worked hard to be skilled at what I do and take pride in my abilities.
