Home and School Association Meeting Minutes

October 12, 2016

The meeting was called to order at 7:00. Those in attendance included Jeannie Tomkinson, Greg Slee, Lois Widner, Erin Poiry, Molly Schwartz, Alison Labrie, Lisa Ramos, Barb Stowe, and Andrea Hill.

Secretary’s Report

Minutes from the October meeting have been approved and are posted on the school website.

Treasurer’s Report – Alison Labrie

  • HASA currently has a profit of around $8000.
  • Monies disbursed include payments for field trips and down payments for Seton Night Live.

President’s Report – Jeannie Tomkinson

  • Trivia Night will take place February 11. The co-chairs for the event are Andy Zey and Jill Harris.
  • Discussion was held about tracking HASA volunteers so they can be recognized.

Committee Reports

Pioneers Parties – Erin Poiry

  • The committee is breaking the parties into three seasons – fall, winter, and spring/summer. The goal is to have 1-2 adult parties and 1-2 child parties per season.
  • This winter there is an adult yoga night planned, possibly a K-8 laser tag party, and a February Dad and Daughter dance.
  • Parties brought in around $2800 last year. A small budget will be given to the committee for advertising and other expenses.

Auction – Jeannie Tomkinson

  • Save-the-date magnets and post cards were sent home in early October.
  • A website for the auction will launch next week.
  • The auction will be holding a 50/50 tuition raffle, prize up to $4800.

Box Tops – Barb Stowe

  • This is the last week for the Boys v. Girls contest. So far, they have collected 8,258 Box Tops.
  • The second contest begins October 31 and ends December 2. The student who has 10 Box Tops mailed to them (at the school) from the farthest distance wins the contest. There will also be a class contest.

Uniform Resale – Molly Schwartz

Molly will look into having the resale shop open during conferences.

Teacher Appreciation – Andrea O’Neill

During student led conferences, the committee will be providing goodie bags to the teacher’s Tuesday afternoon and coffee and doughnuts Thursday morning.

Fine Arts – Andrea Hill

  • The Fort Wayne Philharmonic will be sending an ensemble to the school during Catholic Schools Week.
  • The committee is also looking into programs offered by the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.

There were no reports from the following committees: Plant Show, Welcoming committee, Learning Adventures, Burger King, Schoolkidz, Trick or Trunk, Turkey Bingo, Book Fair.

Principal’s Report – Lois Widner

  • The first round of Positive Pioneers certificates were handed out today. These recognize students nominated by their teachers for their positive contribution to the school.
  • The Rachel’s Challenge kick-off is tomorrow.
  • Student Led Conferences take place next week.
