The Red Oak Christian

MINISTER’S MOMENT

Special Offering October 1st and October 8th.

About the Special Offering

The Special Offering is used to fund our Church’s mission imperative to become a pro-reconciling and anti-racist church utilizingexperiential education, inclusive worship and intentional dialogue. Our efforts to promote healing, relationship and restoration in the whole family of God are enlivened by funds from this offering. Through it we are able to provide programs for leadership development, curriculum for dialogue and learning, and partnerships within the Church and our communities.

The Choir is back from summer vacation. We are glad you are here.

Messages from the Missions Team

The emphasis for the Mission Team this year will be “Believe…Belong…Become”. We chose this because you first have to believe that Jesus Christ is your Salvation, then accept HIM as your Lord and Savior to belong to the family of God, finally you have to become disciples to fulfill his command to go and serve others.

The next Missions meeting will be held November 6, 2017 at 6:00 pm.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP

Community Garden: Every third Saturday starting at 8am, the 3rd Street Community Center is open for volunteers to come and help in the Community Garden, to interact with the 3rd street community, and to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. You don’t need special skills you just need to care. Share your caring this month, October 21st, at the 3rd Street Community Center.

FEEDINg the Homeless: October 25, 2017- Please contact Sandy Smith if you are able to help.

THE AMAZING JOURNEY OF A SIMPLE SHOEBOX BEGINS WITH YOU

The CWF would like to invite every man, woman and child in our church to join in this year’s exciting outreach of Operation Christmas Child. This “Shoe Box” project of Samaritan’s Purse has touched the lives of millions of children with God’s love. DO NOT include candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

The boxes sent by our church may be the only gift a child will receive for Christmas. In order for a child to receive a box by Christmas, it is essential that our boxes are filled and dropped off at the church office no later than Sunday, October 29. Place a check for $9.00 payable to Samaritan’s Purse in your shoe box to help cover shipping and other cost.

If you have question you may contact Nannie Sue Fields at 355-5698 or Clara Faye Whitley at 321-1941.

Don’t forget October is Minister Appreciation month.

Thank you Pastor Craig for all you do.

Year-To-Date Stewardship Report

Let these words from the scriptures guide you as you consider your financial gifts to the church in support of our programs and ministries:

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21.

The following figures are given for your information from January 1 through September 24, 2017. Remember, faithful Christian stewardship is not based on the Church’s need to receive, but upon our need to give as Christ commands.

Total funds needed for 2017...... $ 125,058.00

Received for General Fund...... $ 91,283.01

For you know the generous act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

(II Corinthians 8:9)
