Sparkling Star: closurelogic presents 5-bar, gas-tight rolled aluminum closure at ProWein

Worms, 10 March 2015 –In response to market demands, rolled aluminum closure specialist closurelogicbased in Worms, Germany, has recently developed a new closure that can withstand bottle pressuresof up to 5 bar. This capabilitymakes the new 60mm-long Sparkling Starclosure suitable for carbonated beverages. closurelogicwill be presenting their new closure solution for the first time atProWein in Düsseldorf, Hall 13, Stand D30, from 15 to 17 March 2015.

Carbonated beverages represent a particular challenge for closures. During transportation, bottle pressure can rise significantly, especially with temperature variations. A closure suitable for CO2-containing drinks therefore needs to be highly resistant to pressure, in order to ensure maximum safety throughout the transportation chain. At the same time, the closure also needs to be easy to handle, tasteless and ideally resealable.

closurelogic’snew Sparkling Starrolled aluminum closure offers all these characteristics. With a diameter of 30 millimeters and a length of 60 millimeters, Sparkling Starprovides optimum sealing properties.

Sparkling Star has passed the tests and is ready for launch

“Short screw caps have long been established for sparkling wines insmall bottles”,explained Marion Requena, Sales Manager for wine and spirit closures at closurelogic. “Recently, however, we have received an increasing number of requests for BVS 30x60 millimeters closures for carbonated beverages.”

In response to this demand, closurelogicset about developing Sparkling Star, a 30x60 mm closure with a PVC-free seal capable of withstanding pressures of up to 5 bar. Test runs with a major bottling company have confirmed the closure’s pressure-resistant capability and neutral taste.Meanwhile, the first orders have already been received. In addition to the existing 30x60 LongCap Classic for wines, the service bottler Oberhofer GmbH inEdesheim, Germany, now offers the capping of the new Sparkling Starclosure for CO2-containing beverages. Thanks to appropriate machine optimization, Oberhofer GmbH can even offer both types of closure using the same machine settings.

As fresh as on the first day

“Sparkling Star is ideal for this constantly growing market”, said Requena. “Because it can be reclosed, the bottled products continue to fizz freshly, even if the bottle was opened the day before.” In addition, the elegant 60mm closure can be decorated with different designs.

In common with all closurelogic aluminum closures, Sparkling Staris also recyclable after use. The metal is then fully available as a raw material again, without loss of quality.
