Mission & Philosophy

The health ministry of Franciscan Alliance, Inc. (Franciscan) is a continuation of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ and is carried out in our Franciscan tradition by the Sisters, employees, physicians, volunteers, and boards of each institution of the health system. Each Franciscan employee acknowledges this corporate health ministry and shares responsibility with other system employees for implementation of the Sisters’ mission and philosophy in the work performed throughout this corporate ministry.

Position Summary

Program / Department Mission Statement: The mission of Senior Promise/Franciscan Insurance Services is to provide support, information, education and delivery of Insurance services to older adults in a manner consistent with the overall mission of the Marketing Division and Franciscan Alliance. Supports Senior Promise membership duties as needed.

Essential Job Responsibilities

§  Insurance Functions - Sells various types of insurance policies to businesses and individuals on behalf of insurance companies, including life, health, accident, cancer, critical illness, dental, and vision.

§  Customer Service - Deals directly with customers either via telephone, electronically or face to face. Responds promptly to customer inquiries.

§  Handles and resolves customer complaints, questions, or concerns. Maintains effective communication with department manager and other departments to assure successful control of delivery and quality of program benefits and services.

§  Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Continuously monitors and assesses operational processes to assure quality and effective delivery of benefits.

§  Other Duties as Assigned - Assists department manager with programs and special projects as assigned by department manager.

Education

Required: Minimum of HS diploma

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

Experience & Skills

Required: Must be a licensed Life and Health insurance agent for the State of Indiana with a minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance counseling. Individual must meet requirements to be contracted with insurance carriers, and be able to enroll individuals in health insurance plans in the State of Indiana. Skills needed include ability to use PC based systems, MS Word, Excel and Power Point, and must operate basic office equipment. Must adapt easily to change and think independently.

Preferred: Prefer licensed insurance agent with extensive Medicare enrollment experience.

Physical Environment

Traditional office environment; level of activity ranges from sedentary work with a certain amount of sitting, walking and standing to occasional light work involving lifting of supplies and moving objects; requires occasional travel, exposure to travel and weather conditions.

Physical Demands

Occasional standing, walking, relatively constant sitting; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects; occasional handling, filing, photocopying; constant reading, writing, typing, telephone and computer use. Inability to perform the physical requirements of the job would be detrimental to the performance of the position and operation of the department.
