Directions: Use the research process to gather information about Shakespeare’s life and society. Gather information from at least three sources. Use Pages to create the final project.

Part One: Research Report

Cover

Create an interesting “book” cover for your Shakespeare’s biography.

1. Include the title of your report, your name the date of production.

2. Include a photograph that shows something important about Shakespeare and his society.

Shakespeare Report Contents

Your report should follow the format below.

Introduction

  • Write a brief description of Shakespeare’s society and why Shakespeare is important.

The body paragraphs should include answers to the following questions.

  1. Why is Shakespeare important?
  2. What are the characteristics that helped make him famous?
  3. What are the defining events in the life of Shakespeare?
  4. What are Shakespeare’s major contributions to drama and literature?
  5. What part of Shakespeare’s life do you most admire and why?

Conclusion:

  • Wrap up the body of the report. Write about the most important or interesting thing that you learned about Shakespeare. Explain.

Work Cited

  • Includes all sources of information and photographs.

Part Two: Puppet and Oral Report

Puppet

Create a puppet that represents Shakespeare or a character from one of his plays or sonnets.

  1. Your puppet should be homemade using an assortment of craft materials. Be creative. Do not use any store bought toys.
  2. Have the puppet hold “ a prop” that represents your subject.

Oral report

Prepare a 3 – 5 minute oral report. The report may be a simple speech on the findings of your research or you may recite a poem or monologue written by Shakespeare.

  1. Speak in the first person.
  2. Use your puppet creatively.
  3. Be prepared to answer questions from the audience.
  4. Have fun!

5 / The concluding paragraph wraps up the body of the report and includes the most important or interesting thing that you learned about Shakespeare.
10 / Grammar, punctuation and spelling are correct.
10 / Paragraphs are organized, detailed and well developed with topic and concluding sentences.
15 / The puppet is creatively constructed and looks like Shakespeare or one of the characters that he created. The puppet is holding a prop.
5 / During the oral presentation you speak loudly, clearly, and slowly in first person while looking at the audience.
