Selection Centre Guidance

Thank you for your application to study the MB ChB degree in Medicine (A101) at Warwick Medical School and congratulations on becoming successful to the next stage of selection. Our decision to invite you to attend a Selection Centre is based upon your written application to UCAS and your UKCAT score.

Warwick and Barts Medical Schools are working together to select students for entry to their respective medical schools. So if you have applied to both institutions and both would like to invite you to the next stage, the Selection Centre, then you will only need to attend at one. Each venue runs the same process. At the end of the process, you will receive a decision from each institution.

At the Selection Centre you will have the opportunity to demonstrate the qualities that we believe are important to succeed in medicine. You will be involved in a number of tasks over the course of the session. These will include observing and commenting on a health professional-patient consultation, a written exercise, a team work exercise and questionnaire completion. While conducting these tasks you will be observed by a number of assessors trained to identify the qualities that we are interested in.

The assessors’ scores will be collated and at the end of the Selection Centre process a decision will be taken on whether to make you an offer of a place at the medical school.

When you attend the Selection Centre at Warwick Medical School, please bring with you both the following:

  1. Originals and photocopies of your identification documents as detailed on the attached Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) Checklist. This will allow us to initiate the Disclosure and Barring Service check. Should you have any enquiries regarding the DBS check, please contact the Deputy Admissions Coordinator, Student Recruitment and Admissions Office, University of Warwick on +44 (0)2476 528120 or
  1. If you have already graduated, please also bring your original Degree Certificate with you and a photocopy.
