PART 1GENERAL

1.1RELATED DOCUMENTS

A.Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.

1.2SUMMARY

A.This Section includes the following decorative glass for interior applications:

1.Decorative film overlay.

B.Related Sections include the following:

1.Division8 Section "Mirrors" for mirror glass and glazing requirements.

1.3DEFINITIONS

A.PVC: Polyvinyl chloride.

1.4SUBMITTALS

A.Product Data: For each decorative-glass product indicated.

B.Samples: For the following products, 12 inches square:

1.Each decorative film overlay.

C.Product Certificates: For each type of decorative film, signed by product manufacturer.

D.Qualification Data: For Installer.

E.Maintenance Data: For each type of decorative film overlay to include in maintenance manuals.

1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

A.Installer Qualifications: An installer who employs glass installers for this Project who are certified under the National Glass Association's Certified Glass Installer Program.

B.Source Limitations: Obtain each type of decorative film through one source from a single manufacturer to provide products of consistent quality in appearance and physical properties.

1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A.Protect decorative film to comply with manufacturer's written directions and as needed to prevent damage to glass and any decorativesurfaces.

B.Retain packaging and sequencing numbers for decorative film.

1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.Environmental Limitations: Do not install decorative glass until spaces are enclosed and weatherproof, wet work in spaces is complete and dry, and ambient temperature and humidity conditions are maintained at the levels indicated for Project when occupied for its intended use.

B.Field Measurements: Verify dimensions to fit by field measurements before fabrication and indicate measurements on Shop Drawings.

PART 2PRODUCTS

2.1DECORATIVE FILM OVERLAY

A.Cast PVC Film: Translucent, dimensionally stable cast PVC film, 2-mil- (0.05-mm-) minimum thickness, with pressure-sensitive clear adhesive back for adhering to glass and releasable protective backing.

1.Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide one of the following or approved equal by listed manufacturers:

a.Avery Dennison Graphics Division; EtchmarkA5861-S.

b.FDC Graphic Films, Inc.; Series2100/2200, 007 Frosted Silver Metallic.

c.Spar-Cal Division, Spartan International; Etchlight.

d.3M Commercial Graphics Division; Scotchcal Frosted Crystal,.

2.Use: Exterior and interior applications.

3.Outdoor Durability: Not less than five years.

2.2DECORATIVE-GLASS FABRICATION

A.Cast PVC Film: Apply squarely aligned to glass edges, uniformly smooth, and free from tears, air bubbles, wrinkles, and rough edges, in single sheet completely overlaying the back face of clean glass, according to manufacturer's written instructions, including surface preparation and application temperature limitations.

PART 3EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

A.Examine decorative-glass with Installer present, for compliance with the following:

1.Manufacturing and installation tolerances, including those for size, squareness, and offsets at corners.

2.Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.

3.2INSTALLATION

A.Install PVC film in series true in line with uniform orientation, pattern and similar characteristics.

3.3CLEANING AND PROTECTION

A.Protect decorative film from damage immediately after installation by attaching crossed streamers to framing and held away from glass. Do not apply markers to glass surface. Remove nonpermanent labels, and clean surfaces.

B.Protect decorative film from contact with contaminating substances resulting from construction operations. If, despite such protection, contaminating substances do come into contact with glass, remove substances immediately as recommended by glass and film manufacturers.

C.Remove and replace PVC film that is abraded or that is damaged from natural causes, accidents, and vandalism, during construction period.

D.Wash decorative film on both exposed surfaces in each area of Project not more than four days before date scheduled for inspections that establish date of Substantial Completion. Wash glass and film as recommended in writing by glass manufacturer.
