SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY – OFFICE OF THE POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER FOR CLEVELAND
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment within the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland for the following role within the Police Transformation (Domestic Abuse) Project Team:

Salary: circa £20,000 per post (subject to secondment agreement)
Role details
This is an exciting, innovative role and development opportunity that requires good understanding and knowledge of domestic abuse, victim and perpetrator dynamics, civil and family court proceedings and remedies, advice and advocacy resources, and local support services.
The post holder will work closely with a number of key agencies and alongside other workstreams that are being delivered as part of the Police Transformation (Domestic Abuse) Project, including, but not limited to: Cleveland Police, courts, CAFCASS, local authorities, National Probation Service, Community Rehabilitation Company, housing and support services providers, victim services providers, and perpetrator programme providers.
The primary aim of the role is to serve as the liaison between the victim, Child and Family Court, support services, Police and Solicitors in respect of Child and Family proceedings, and to fully ensure that the safeguarding of children and potential victims of domestic abuse and coercive and controlling behaviour is the priority during proceedings by facilitating the secure and safe exchange of information.
The postholder will work with the courts and support services to develop and establish the role and communication pathway. They will also work with the police, to enable them to better understand victimisation through family court proceedings, so they can better meet the needs of local domestic abuse victims.
A significant part of the role will be to offerearly advice and assistance to those experiencing victimisation, and to work collaboratively with them and the courts to explain procedures, explain the focus of proceedings, roles and rights of parties within the system, and support those who identify as domestic abuse victims primarily through signposting to referral pathways to ensure take up of available,appropriate support.
The post is initially being offered as a secondment up to end March 2019; however, subject to central funding agreement there is a possibility of extension for a period of up to 2 years.
The post will be based in Cleveland and there may be a requirement for the post holder to work from different police buildings across the Cleveland Police estate from time to time.
We are keen to arrange for this role to be fulfilled by a secondee with the skills, experience and drive to make a real difference in tackling domestic abuse.
We are particularly keen to hear from applicants working in either domestic abuse or criminal justice services, whether in the public, private or wider not for profit sectors.
To make the most of the central funding which has been awarded, we need to fill the role as rapidly as possible and will be keen to workwith the donor organisation to meet all reasonable costs of secondment of the successful applicant.
Background
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland has supported a collaborative bid bysixPolice & Crime Commissioners and Police Forces across the North Eastern Region(Cleveland, Northumbria, Durham, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and Humberside). The bid has been led by Vera Baird, Northumbria PCCwith a view to piloting an innovative ‘whole system’ approach to tackling Domestic Abuse.
The workis being delivered through three key themes. These are:
Theme 1: Effective working within the criminal justice system
Theme 2: Partnership working with Civil and Family Courts
Theme 3: Multi-agency victim support and offender management
