Guidelines for 6th Victoria Challenge, 2007

Theme:Victoria We Give To You – Celebrating 131 Years

Date: 12 July (9am) to 13 July(9 am)

The Challenge:Each class is to identify a task which commemorates 131 years of VictoriaSchool or is inline with the theme “Victoria We Give To You”.This contribution can be either aesthetic or ‘atmospheric’. The Challenge is to plan this task carefully and pledge to complete it within the time allocated.

Instructions:

  1. Each class will discuss with their form teacher and assistant form teacheron the task that they want to undertake for the Challenge.
  1. Class monitors are to complete the “Victoria Challenge 2007 Task Proposal and Application Form” and submit it to the form teacher by28 April 2007.
  1. Each class can submit UP TO TWO proposals for the Challenge.

Proposals from Sec 4 classes must take into consideration their limited planning time. This does not necessarily mean that their Challenge on the day itself should be any less demanding.

  1. The Victoria Challenge Committee will grant approvalto ALL tasks and locations for the Challenge. Recommendations and suggestions for each task and the location will be given by the Victoria Challenge Committee.
  1. The decision made by the Victoria Challenge Committee isfinal.
  1. Classes with rejected tasks will have to plan for another task and submit the application form again by 21May 2007 (refer to attached flow chart).
  1. Classes without approved tasks by 21May 2007 WILLparticipate in a task as stipulated by the Victoria Challenge Committee. Alternatively, they may be required to do cleaning duties in the school on that day.
  1. For approved tasks, detailed planning together with the form teacher and assistant form teacher will be required by the respective classes.
  1. All participants in the Challenge will report to the school hall at 8 am on 12 July 2007. They are to complete their tasks by 9am on 13 July 2007and present them by 10.30am on 13 July 2007. Selected outstanding tasks will be viewed by Speech Day GOHand guests on 14 July 2007. These tasks may become a permanent exhibit in the school.
  1. The Victoria Challenge Committee will let all classes know by 12noon on 13 July 2007 which of their Challenges will be put on display for Speech Day the following day.
  1. Classes not selected to display their Challenge will be required to take down what they have done by 5pm on 13 July 2007.
  1. All participants are to ensure that their Challenge area and its surroundings are cleaned up by 5pm on 13 July 2007.

The following tasks are suggested for the 2007 Victoria Challenge. Classes may choose to take up the suggested tasks, however the Challenge will be allocated to the classes on a first come, first serve basis.

Possible Tasks
  1. Photo Exhibition displaying 1310 photos of VS in Siglap Link

  1. To prepare 1310 red and yellow helium balloons to be released during speech day

  1. To bake 131 cakes to raise funds for charity

  1. Make a quilt measuring 13.1m by 13.1m

  1. Paint a 131 m banner

  1. Paint a huge ‘trampoline’ to cover the entire parade square

  1. Make 131 pots and plant 131 plants in them

  1. Paint 131 pictures relating school activities

  1. Make a model of the school with matchsticks or toothpicks

  1. To raise $1310 through a fund raising effort

  1. To receive 1310 well wishes from ex-Victorians via an online blog

  1. Write 131 poems on VS with 131 lines for each poem
