Schema Conformance Review Template

Schema Package Name and Version:TRI 2.0
Reviewed Date:3/20/2007

Findings Summary

Critical Issues:
An updated DET (required) and a Sample XML File (required) were not provided in the flow package. The schema folder structure does not comply with EN guidelines (i.e. “2” subfolder). The FCD does not provide up to date information on the flow.

Noncritical Issues:
The new schema still references SSC 1.0. Although not required, this would have been the opportunity to upgrade the references to SSC 2.0. Also, additional useful information could have been added to the FCD, and a Schema Conformance Report should have been developed.

Critical Issues:

None

Non-critical Issues:

  • DRC 1.1 rule SD5-C states “Existing schema SHOULD be evaluated for SSC compatibility and subsequently updated to include SSC elements and/or datatypes at the time of the next revision.”.

The TRI v2.0 schema was not upgraded to reference SSC 2.0 instead of its predecessor, SSC 1.0. This is not required, although it would have adhered more tightly to the latest EN standards if it were upgraded. The developer’s reasoning for not referencing SSC 2.0 should have been documented in the TRI Schema Conformance Report.

  1. Compliance with Namespace, File Naming and ComponentVersioningguidelines

( X ) Evaluated

( ) Not Evaluated

Critical Issues:

  • Folder structure does not comply with EN guidelines set forth in Namespace document. This is a very simple fix.

Non-critical Issues:

None

  1. Review of Data Exchange Template

( ) Evaluated

( X ) Not Evaluated

Critical Issues:

  • An updated Data Exchange Template (required) was not provided.

Non-critical Issues:

None

  1. Review of Flow Configuration Document

( X ) Evaluated

( ) Not Evaluated

Critical Issues:

  • The FCD documents a history and current status of the TRI flow, but this information has not been updated (i.e., there is no information about availability of all data to state partners now). The information provided will not give new TRI participants an accurate picture of how TRI data can be received, which could impair their ability to fully participate in the flow. The FCD should be updated to provide up to date information on the TRI flowstatus.

Non-critical Issues:

  • Flow startup instructions for new partners could be provided.
  • The Appendix was not updated to reflect mapping of flat files to XML schema for the new NAICS data elements.
  1. Review of other supporting materials

( X) Evaluated

( ) Not Evaluated

Critical Issues:

  • Sample XML file (required) was not included in the package

Non-critical Issues:

  • Schema Conformance Report (required) was not included in the package. The reviewers were able to assess the schemas and supporting materials without this document, and therefore do not see this as a critical issue at this time.
