I am pleased to offer you an appointment at Kent State University as a full-time non-tenure track ______in the ______Track, in the Department of ______for the 20__ - 20__ academic year, effective ______. Your salary for this nine-month appointment will be determined in accord with the negotiated provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement with theFull-Time Non-TenureTrack Faculty Unit. It will not be less, however, than your current salary of $______. Should you accept this offer, a contract will be sent to you when your completed employment papers are reviewed and approved by the Dean and the Office of the Provost.

The salary for the nine-month appointmentconsists of a cash salary of 88% of the amount stated and a deferred salary of 12%. You will have the option of electing to receive the cash salary portion in either eighteen (18) or twenty-four (24) semi-monthlypayments. As earned, the deferred salary amount will be contributed by the University to the appropriate retirement program for deposit into your account.

Please note that this is the first in a three-year term of annually renewable appointments that we anticipate will encompass the 20__ - 20__, 20__ - 20__ and 20__ - 20__ academic years. Renewal of appointment for each subsequent year of the term will be contingent upon continued satisfaction with demonstrated performance, programmatic and staffing needs, and available resources.

In the event that one or more of these conditions does not continue or is not anticipated to continue from one year to the next, you will receive written notification that the appointment is not to be renewed and of the reason(s) no later than ______of the ______semester preceding the academic year for which the appointment is not to be renewed. Absent such notification by the date indicated, the appointment is to be regarded as renewed for the next academic year within the three-year term.

The salary for each subsequent year of appointment within the three-year term shall be in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement then in effect between the University and the Full-Time Non-Tenure Track Faculty Unit affiliated with AAUP-KSU. You will receive annual notification of the base annual contract salary for each academic year of appointment when the salary levels have been determined in accordance with the negotiated provisions of the Agreement for the affected academic year.

Should you choose for any reason to resign your position with the University before the conclusion of the three-year term of annually renewable appointments, you are to notify me of that fact, in writing, no less than thirty (30) days prior to the conclusion of the semester immediately preceding the desired effective date of the resignation. A copy of this notification should be provided tothe Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.

Your appointment is to a non-tenure track position and is limited to the period stated above.

Faculty members are expected to teach effectively, to be responsible for student advising and to participate, as appropriate, in the University community. You will be expected to maintain appropriate office hours in accordance with University Policy and to administer Student Surveys of Instruction in all of your courses. At the conclusion of this appointment, it will be necessary for you to turn in your grade books and student records to myoffice. All faculty members are expected to maintain and demonstrate currency in their professional fields and satisfactorily carry out duties as assigned.

Full-time salaried employees of the University earn sick leave at the rate of one and one-fourth (1.25) days per month. Should you become ill, it is your responsibility to notifymyoffice immediately, arrange for an appropriate substitute for your class (es), and record your sick leave on line.

This appointment and any subsequent appointments are subject to confirmation by the Board of Trustees, the continuing availability of funds, and are governed by the policies and procedures of the University. Further information regarding these rules and regulations is provided in the University Policy Register, the ______Handbook, and the Collective Bargaining Agreementbetween the University and the full-time non-tenure track faculty unit represented by AAUP-KSU. Copies of these documents are maintained in my office. Please read and review these materials at your earliest convenience.
