My recent experience makes me a candidate for your entry-level position as an editorial assistant for Seventeen magazine. I held three positions at my college’s magazine, including Features Editor, Campus Correspondent, and Senior Copyeditor. In my senior year, I initiated a new section in our magazine, Style File, featuring local clothing and accessories stores. A similar Style File in your magazine from different cities across the nation would be an intriguing section for your readers.

I am proficient in both PC and MAC platforms and have used the Microsoft Office Suite and Quark.

I will call you in a few days to schedule a time when we can talk in more detail. At that time I can share with you my writing portfolio.

Your flyer announcing the position of Program Coordinator caught my attention immediately. This position interests me because I have the skills required to work on a diverse team. I am fluent in Spanish, French, and English and have had a long-standing interest in working with people from many cultures. My experience as a vendor in an Argentina zoo and my current job as unit manager at the UN Communications Center are two examples of the unique and relevant background I would bring to the position of Program Coordinator at the UC International House.

As a member of the International House, I also have a firsthand understanding about how residents feel about the activities and special events hosted by the office throughout the year. Because of this, I am in an excellent position to help plan a variety of activities that residents will appreciate.

As directed in the job announcement, I am requesting an appointment for an interview on March 28, between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., at a time convenient for you. Please contact me if another time is more appropriate. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Your Chief Financial Officer, Elena Perez, told me recently that you were looking for an MIS director. Because of my background, she encouraged me to contact you directly. I am impressed with the growth of your company during the last two years. With that kind of expansion, I can understand your need to create a separate MIS department.

This position relates directly to my current experience at Murphy and Sons, LLP, as you will see from my résumé. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss how my qualifications may best meet your needs. Thank you for your time and consideration.
