he meeting was brought to order by President Harold Graves. The club sang the Star Stangled Banner, and the invocation was given by past-president, John Arnold.

This was our first meeting at our new location, Traditions at the Links at ErieVillage. As of today, all of our meetings will be held at this location.

Visitors & Guests:Kristin Hempel introduced Tim Burns, 7 students from MPH and their Chinese teacher, Wei Gao.

Announcements:

  • John Shepard noted that the annual wood sale would be held on November 13th in the K-MartPlaza on Erie Blvd East. Work sheets will soon be available for volunteer sign up.

Our next meal service at the SamaritanCenter will be on October 16th. Please contactMichelle Burnett at 345-7799 or

if you can help out on that day.

  • Jim Robb recuperation is proceeding nicely at James Square. He would love to have visitors. If you have the time, please give him a call and stop on by.
  • Next week the 7150 District GovernorPJ Scott will be making his official visit with us. If anyone can come early (at approximately 11:30 am) and meet him prior to the meeting that would be appreciated. President Graves promised to refrain from making any of his usual jokes in honor of the solemnity of the occasion.

Program: This past summer, 9 students from MPH traveled to China with their teacher, Wei Gao for a six immersion program in Chinese culture and language. This was underwritten by funding from the Federal Government. Each student had the opportunity to live with a Chinese family. They were all able to improve their Chinese language skills and had wonderful experiences with their host families enjoying the cultural aspects (different to be sure!) of some of China’s larger cities.
