Role: Southwark Grow Fest Event Volunteer (From planning to delivery!)

Commitment: from now to May 2017, 2-3 h/week flexible

What is Southwark Grow Fest? / Southwark Growfest… a celebration of growing, gardens and community in Southwark!
We want to bring together, celebrate, network and promote growing in Southwark. The event will be a busy day of activities, workshops, food and fun to inspire new gardeners and support existing ones.
What’s the role? / GrowFest is looking to recruit a small team of volunteers to support us in planning, preparing and organising our event to celebrate food, food growing, gardening and more in Southwark.
Through funding we have raised £1850 to deliver the event. So now we need a team with enough skills and creativity to help us realise our vision.
Main Tasks of the Celebration Volunteer / ●help develop a plan to deliver the event
●To take responsibility for delivering certain areas of the plan (e.g. finding caterers, identifying workshops, on the day decorations etc)
●To meet regularly with Sue to discuss progress and action plans
●To help keep project within budget
●To support the team on the day at one or both events setting up, running and clearing up.
Who we are looking for? / ●Confident with verbal and written communication
●Approachable, sociable with a pleasant personality with excellent interpersonal skills.
●Strong organisational skills or previous event management skills (e.g., birthday parties, school fairs, weddings)
●Able to work as part of team - to lead and to follow
●Wants to gain valuable experience delivering an event from planning to evaluation
●We would preferably like to work with someone who lives locally and who is interested in becoming involved in the local community
Regular contact will be kept with Sue for direction, clarification and to approval of actions.

Other Information / ●Available between now and May 2017
●Able to commit to approx. 2-3h/week and then more as the event approaches
●Travel and lunch expenses will be paid
●Full Supervision will be given
