Hours of Work:Full-time (35 hours per week); part-time hours considered

Salary:Full-time equivalent of £18,000 to £22,000 per annum

Main purpose

The Live Your Life project is an education and support programme for people who have been diagnosed with and treated for lymphoma. The programme takes a holistic approach to the needs of people affected by lymphoma, covering both general health and wellbeing issues and the intricacies and differences that lymphoma presents.

The primary purpose of the role is:

  • To coordinate, structure and implement the delivery of the programme and its resources in a variety of different settings.
  • To oversee and ensure the collection and collation ofevaluation information and feedback in order to measure and monitor the impact of the programme.
  • To engage and follow up with participants of the Live Your Life programme in order to raise the profile of other relevant Lymphoma Association information and support services.

The positions are funded by the Big Lottery Fund for three years from the date of appointment.

Main duties

Programme specific

  • To coordinate and contribute to the roll out, implementation and delivery of the programme through key sites.
  • To identify and book locations for the events, liaise with stakeholders for marketing, booking, catering and logistical arrangements.
  • To research, approach and secure potential sponsors and exhibitors the programme.
  • To compile, coordinate and distribute facilitator and delegate information.
  • To assemble and arrange delivery of delegate packs, name badges and exhibition stand and material, as appropriate.
  • To develop key relationships with different stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, other cancer support professionals, people affected by lymphoma, Lymphoma Association volunteers.
  • To coordinate the collection, reporting and interpretation of key evaluation measures in order to monitor the impact of the programme.
  • To promote and engage with the Live Your Life programme in order to ensure successful delivery and feedback of the programme
  • To travel to Live Your Life workshops across the UK to support the facilitator in the delivery of the programme, including delegate registration and collection of evaluation forms.

General

  • To meet with the line manager for the purpose of regular supervision and annual appraisal.
  • To participate in staff training, organisation/team meetings and events, as required.
  • To keep up-to-date with developments and learning in the field of cancer-related patient information and support.
  • To comply with the organisation’s health and safety, confidentiality, data protection and other policies.

  • Any other duties deemed appropriate by the line manager and Head of Business Development, subject to time and commensurate with level of responsibility and salary.

Person specification

It is not expected that the successful candidate will have experience/ competency in all the areas highlighted. Lymphoma Association is committed to helping individuals develop professionally and personally, and your application is encouraged.

Education, experience and knowledge
  • Experience of working with the organisation and delivery of educational/ learning programmes, ideally in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience of supporting the running of multiple education and training events from end to end.

  • Desirable but not essential:Knowledge of lymphoma and/or other forms of cancer.

  • Desirable but not essential: Experience of using an events management software package

  • Desirable but not essential: Degree in event management or education

Skills and abilities
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to draft and write compelling and easy-to-understand materials to support programme delivery.

  • Good IT skills and computer literacy.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Flexible approach to work and highly organised working practices.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Ability to deal professionally and sympathetically with people affected by lymphatic cancer.

  • Desirable but not essential: Ability to use social media and coordinate digital event marketing .

* The job may involve occasional travel within the UK for the purpose of visiting suppliers or potential suppliers, and attending meetings or training. Occasionally, there may be the need to work at weekends or during anti-social hours, for which notice and time off in lieu will be given.
