OME Fellowship in Medical Education

Application Information

Application Deadline – July 11, 2014

Fellows are selected based on their promise as faculty members with interest in teaching, curriculum development, educational research, and leadership in academic organizations. Applications are considered as they are received, and a rolling acceptance process is utilized. OME will inform applicants of the application decision as quickly as possible.

To be eligible for the Fellowship, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

1)Be a JABSOM faculty member with the support of their respective Department Chair, Program Director or Unit Supervisor. Trainees in residency or fellowship programs who have the support of their Program Directors will also be considered. Visiting faculty from other institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

2)Be able to attend weekly Tuesday afternoon seminars (2:00-4:00 PM at the Kaka’ako Medical Education Building) from September through June of the Fellowship year.

3)All candidates must have the support of their Department Chair, Program Director or Unit Supervisor to commit approximately 20% effort during the fellowship year to completing assignments and major projects.

4)Make arrangements via their home department or unit for campus parking for the Tuesday fellowship seminars. OME is not able to provide parking for fellows.

1. A completed Fellowship Application (attached).

2. One letter of reference from a supervisor or colleague addressing the candidate’s

a)interest and/or potential related to medical education

b)ability to work with others and/or responsiveness to feedback

c)potential for a career in academic medicine and/or commitment to professional development in medical education

3. A recent resume or curriculum vita which includes education, post-graduate training, professional background and experience, especially in the areas of teaching, educational administration, and scholarly activities.
