Hello Parents,

Happy Thursday Folder Day! While we are busy with TCAP and SAT 10 testing, we are also planning to end the 2013-2014 school year. We will continue our ambitious goals to improve students reading over the summer.

All young people experience learning losses when they do not engage in educational activities during the summer. Parents are consistently citing summer as the most difficult time to ensure that their children have productive things to do.

The administration and faculty at Crump Elementary want to be sure that all of our students keep their brains active during this summer break. We have created a suggested reading list for grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Please take this list to the library and allow your children to pick at least one book from the list. Students in grades K-2 can read the books to their parents, while students in grades 3-5 can read their books independently. When finished, have your children complete the included book report form. Be sure to keep this book report form, as we would like it to be returned to your children’s new teachers for reading credit at the beginning of the 2014-2015 school year.

Check our school web page for optional book reporting forms

Encourage your children to read as many books from the list as possible so they might create a love for reading while improving their reading skills.

Have a terrific summer of learning!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Angela Short, Kindergarten Teacher
