What we’re thinking about

We’ve identified the following priorities for how we want the centres to develop during the next three to five years.

  • Evolve and improve services. We want the facilities and services to keep on getting better so more and more people are able to use our leisure centres.
  • Work with partners. We want Redwell and Waendel to be at the heart of the borough’s communities. We want to ensure that they complement the work of the lots of voluntary, public and private organisations that are improving our town and villages.
  • Drive up participation in sports and leisure. More people are choosing to adopt a healthier lifestyle. We want our leisure centres to help as many people as possible to take up regular exercise like walking, jogging and swimming.
  • Promote opportunities for local clubs and associations. There are lots of local amateur clubs for sports like football, netball and cycling. We want to help these clubs grow and develop with the support of our leisure centres.
  • Engagement with schools. Lots of schools already use our facilities but we want to see more school kids getting the chance to try the different sports and activities that are available at Redwell and Waendel.
  • Health and wellbeing. Taking up a sport or fitness activity is a great way to improve your health and helps to make you feel better about yourself. We want more people to use our leisure centres as a route to a longer and happier life.

Please let us have your views. We would like you to tell us…
