How to Change over from sky’s firmware to Sagem’s Generic and how to get your username and password.

By Anarchyuk

Disclaimer:whatever you do to your router is at your own risk! This will void the warranty. Skys terms state you are not to use another router etc blabla fook sky..

Reason: loads more settings and it solved my slow wireless speeds.

Plug in the Ethernet cable that came with your router for this and disconnect wireless.
Download the generic fw from here

Step 1:grab you modem and write down the network WPA password and mac address, in the exact same case as they appear on the bottom, the WPA key is always uppercase and the mac is always hex decimal.

Step 2: browse over to tick the box in the middle and click f@st 2504, on the next screen add your mac and WPA key exactly how they appear on the router config page or bottom of router.

make sure you enter the mac address in the exact format with :’s in it e.g 00:1d:74:e0:7b:8b

Step 2a:
Once you press enter it will provide the username and password for your router! This is not magic all it does is use the algorithm sky uses when sending out the routers. You will notice the first part of the username if the mac without :’s and the password is random
example;
Username: 001d74e07b8b@skydsl Password: B0/K7ERQ3iGmaC+

Write these down or copy and paste them exactly how they are and keep them safe, save to hd and to another place i.e usb pen drive.

Step 3:unzip the file from the top of the guide with winrar rarlabs.com to somewhere you will remember, the root of your c: is perfect

Login to the router by putting 192.168.0.1 into your browser and and press enter, then enter admin as login and sky as the password. Click on upgrade router at the top once you are in.

The press choose file and browse to where ever you unzipped the downloaded achive and select F2404_3_18_1a4_flash_image_NONE,

Step 4: Your router will upgrade to the generic firmware within 5 mins, do not interrupt this process as it may kill the router. Once finished the router should reboot and your computer will re gain connectivity, if not manually turn it off and on. Once its back on open up a command prompt by type telnet 192.168.1.1 it should ask you for a username and password if telnet doesn’t work on windows 7 and vista go to control panel, programs and features, turn windows features on and off, and click telnet client and press ok, once it finishes go back to the command prompt and try again.

The username and password on the new firmware is admin. And the router address is 192.168.1.1 for your browser and telnet this can be changed back to 192.168.0.1 later once you are all sorted, if you have issues getting into the new address change over to that sub net in your lan IPv4 config, change back when done/

Step 5: Configure WAN,

In telnet;
Press 3 and enter for WAN
Press 1 and enter to configure

Follow all the below settings when asked
