All the matches in the Premier Division of the Norfolk SRA Squash League have now been played with East Anglia winning the one remaining fixture, 20-2 against a four man Bannatyne’s team. The result means that East Anglia have finished the season with 207 points, nine behind the league champions, Diss, and six ahead of East Anglia II who had to settle for third place. In the championship play-offs the two East Anglia teams will play each other on Friday 6th March with the winners playing Diss on Friday 13th.

With a fifth string win in the bag before a ball was hit East Anglia showed no mercy to their opponents as both Andrew Trim and Ashley Briggs won in straight games, beating Matt Green and Kevin Harvey respectively while James Cultien and Dave Gouldby both won their matches 3-1 against Andy Wright and Paul Gedge.

North Norfolk were another team only able to raise four players as they lost their re-arranged Division Two match against Broadland III 17-7. After Ollie Gollop claimed his walk-over, Paul Banham beat Gary Hastings 3-1 and Ben Nicholson won in straight games against Devendra Mahatme to wrap up the bonus points. For North Norfolk captain Tim Perry beat Steve Heywood 3-1 and Martin Guppy won the first string match against Justin Miller 13-7 13-8 10-13 7-13 13-11.

In Division Three UEA II won two matches in the space of three days, moving up the table into fifth place.They beat Fakenham II 19-5 and then picked up a maximum in a 20-2 victory over Cromer. At Fakenham Alex Tanner and Thomas Greenfield both won their matches 3-1 while Graeme Brittain and Ashnish Sinha won in straight games. The one Fakenham winner was Jason Smith who won the first string match against Jamie Nesbit 13-8 13-8 13-15 9-13 13-11. The same five students played against Cromer with Tanner, Brittain and Sinha all winning in straight games while Greenfield and Nesbit both won 3-1.

The closest match of the week was at Potters where the home club’s second team beat Oasis 18-10. For the home team both Darren Green and David Cook won their matches 3-1, beating Terry Mayes and Dave Horrex respectively while Richard Soanes had to come from 0-2 down before winning the fifth string match against Keane Pye 3-13 5-13 13-11 13-9 13-9. For Oasis Ben Serruys beat Graham Fackman 3-1 and Richard Hatch won a tremendous first string match against Cliff High 15-13 13-15 13-3 8-13 13-10.
