Proposal to develop a 3rd Generation (3G) Artificial Playing Pitch on the New Field

We are excited to be able to share with you the plans that are underway to develop a 3G pitch on the New Field site at Lincroft School.

The school was approached by the Bedfordshire Football Association about the possibility of having a 3G pitch on our grounds. Each year the Football Foundation identifies areas across the country that would benefit from such a facility. The Lincroft School field was highlighted as an ideal location to support local football teams and help nurture and support future and existing generations of footballers and coaches.

The benefits to the local community of this facility during the evenings and weekends are evident, but it will also be available for school use during the day. The pitch surface allows school use for football, hockey and general recreational space.

We have the support of Governors, local football teams and started to make links with Parish Councils and the Borough Council. Talks are also taking place with a Professional Football Team to support the venture and possibly locate a Women’s Centre of Excellence at the venue. The Parent Teacher Association are very supportive of the project and have decided to use the Fun Run in June to help raise funds as part of the schools contribution to this venture.

Our Technical Consultants on the project have placed an initial costing for the facility at approximately £550,000. Much of the funding is provided by the Football Foundation, but the remainder will need to come from other partners. We have also engaged an expert to help prepare the documentation linked to the bid and co-ordinate the partners and funding requirements.

Following a successful planning application the date for Project Submission to the Football Foundation Panel is in August with a decision date in October. This would then mean that work on the New Field would commence quite quickly with a completion date of Spring 2016.

We are writing to you to inform you of these plans, to ask you for your support, particularly for the

Fun Run, but if you feel you can help with the project in any way, please feel free to contact us at the school either by phone (01234 822147) or email ()

Yours sincerely
