Prom, 2018---Dress Code

With modesty in mind, the following dress code guidelines will be enforced at the 2018 BSHS Prom. This dress code applies to all guests who may attend as well. Any dress code decisions not covered in this handout will be at the principal's and prom sponsor's discretion. While we will be reasonable in our interpretation of these guidelines, we want you to know that you will not be allowed into the dance if you are dressed inappropriately. Most importantly, this dress code does not limit your ability to show your style and uniqueness, or your ability to have a good time with your friends.

Ladies:

Bust line:

1)Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. Anything that falls below the upper bust line, including any type of plunging necklines, does not meet dress code.

2)The sides of your body are also not allowed to show below your underarm. Dresses may be backless as long as they are not cut below a line parallel with the navel (belly button) and if they don’t show the sides of the body below the underarm.

3)Midriffs will not be exposed. This includes both front and side. With arms down at your side, if flesh touches flesh in the midriff section, the dress is inappropriate.

Piercings and Tattoos:

1)The only piercings that are allowed to be visible are earrings. Nose rings, lip rings, eyebrow rings, or any other visible piercings are against the dress code. You will not be allowed into prom with these showing. If you replace an inappropriate piercing after entering the prom, you will be given only one opportunity to remove it and keep it removed. After that you will escorted out of the prom.

2)NO tattoos of any kind are allowed to be visible.

Dresses with slits:

1)Dresses may not have a slit higher than mid-thigh, nor may the bottom length be any shorter than mid-thigh. This includes instances when the student may be bending. Both the front and back length of the dress must still be no higher than mid-thigh when bending.

Pinning and Fabric Inserts:

1)No pinning will be allowed as an alteration for a dress if the dress does not meet dress code without the pins.

2)Fabric inserts must be sewn, not pinned, on/into the dress if the dress does not meet dress code without the inserts.

3)No cover-ups (coats, shawls, sweaters) will be allowed over dresses that do not meet dress code.

4)All alterations must be permanent. Pins, removable inserts, and cover-ups are easily removed and do not count as following the dress code.

Shoes:

1)Footwear must be formal. Cowboy boots are acceptable. Sliders, flip flops, house shoes, etc. however, are not acceptable.

Gentlemen: The attire is to be FORMAL.
