Information about college scholarships and financial aid opportunities that comes to the Hartsville High School Guidance Department is published in a Scholarship Newsletter each month. This information is delivered to all seniors during their advisory period on the first Monday of each month. It is the responsibility of the student to share this information with parents and guardians.
Anderson University First Glance Event
Who: Juniors and Seniors
What: Overview of Anderson University, financial aid information, a campus tour, and the opportunity to meet with a professor. Conclude your visit by selecting an AU t-shirt.

Common Black College Application
Who: Seniors
What: Students can complete the Common Black College Application (CBCA) and apply to 50 Member Institutions with 1 application for only $35.

Clemson University’s Lyceum Scholars Program
Who: Seniors planning to attend Clemson and are interested in exploring the moral, political, and economic foundations of a free society.
Amount: $2,500 a year for four years

Winthrop Transfer Tuesday
Who: Seniors with the intention of starting at a two year college and then transferring to Winthrop
What: Information sessions designed to simplify the transfer admissions process and help students make a smooth transition to Winthrop University. The program provides students with information about the procedure for applying as a transfer student, transfer credit policies and available scholarships.
Where: Winthrop University
When: Choice of Oct. 4, Nov. 15, Dec. 6, or Jan. 3 from 3:30-6:30 pm.

Kittie Moss Fairey Educational Fund Scholarship
Who: Seniors
Criteria: SC resident, GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, combined SAT score of 1800 or a composite ACT score of 26, parents must have a household adjusted gross income not exceeding $40,000, and must be planning to attend an accredited, four-year college or university in SC.
Amount: Varies

SC Junior Golf Foundation Scholarship
Who: Seniors
Criteria: Minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, SC resident, competitive or recreational interest in golf, and must attend an accredited public or private, four-year college or university located in SC in the fall of 2017.
Amount: $1,500

Benedict College Open House
What: Open House which includes free lunch and free tickets to a football game.

Harry Hampton and Wallace F. Pate Scholarship
Who: Seniors wishing to further their education in the natural resources discipline such as wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science.
Amount: The Harry Hampton Scholarship is a 4-year $5,000/yr. scholarship. The Wallace F. Pate Scholarship is a one year $2,500 scholarship.

David M. Cline Scholarship
Who: Seniors wishing to pursue a degree in law enforcement/criminal justice/forensic science.
Amount: One year $2,000 scholarship

James O. Thomason Scholarship
Who: Seniors wishing to pursue a degree in print or photo journalism, advertising, public relations or mass communications.
Amount: $2,000/yr. for four years.

Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship
Who: Seniors who are planning careers in government service
Criteria: Essay stating why he or she plans a career in government service including any inspiration to be derived from the leadership of George Washington in his famous crossing of the Delaware. The student must confine the essay to viewpoint, attitude and purpose in choice of career. Essay must be accompanied by a recommendation from the principal or guidance counselor.
Amount: Between $500 and $5,000

National MS Society Scholarship
Who: Seniors
Criteria: Diagnosed with MS or have a parent with MS.

WACE Scholarship
Who: Seniors applying to a WACE Partner Institution (Johnson and Wales is the closest)
Criteria: Minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Amount: $6,000 a year for 4 years

Mercer University Engineering Scholarship Challenge
Who: Seniors interested in Engineering, Industrial Management, or Technical Communication
Criteria: On Challenge Day, Mercer meets with students to show them the campus, labs and technology, and give them an opportunity to meet with the faculty and students. Mercer uses a design problem or a test of math skills to help make scholarship recommendations.

Deadline: The Scholarship Challenge is held on November 12th. **Students do not need to have applied for admission to Mercer to participate in this event.
