Project Specialist I/II – YRRTC

Project Specialist I: Salary $73,894 - $83,897 annually

Project Specialist II: Salary $85,611 - $97,010 annually

POSITION PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Project Manager – YRRTC, is responsible for applying specialized technical skills, abilities and knowledge and contributes to the completion of work and the implementation of large scale complex projects that support the rapid transit initiatives (vivaNext) within the Region; providing civil engineering technical support and coordinating activities related to construction for major transit infrastructure capital projects, such as the subway extension project in the Region; supporting on site project and construction activities and preparing graphics, drawings and presentation material; and communicating with project staff, TTC, and Regional and local municipal staff to gather information and resolve issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Project Specialist I: Minimum three (3) years, Project Specialist II: Minimum five (5) years experience demonstrating significant success in providing technical support for transit or transportation major capital project management and construction, such as, subway expansion, BRT projects, etc or related work and field of expertise that can be applied to a variety of technical issues associated with a major transit infrastructure project.
  • Experience in or knowledge of public transportation.
  • Understanding of municipal, regional and provincial operations.
  • Knowledge of project planning principles, concepts, practices and methods.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
  • Demonstrated technical skills.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications including spreadsheet, word processing, data base, presentation and scheduling applications.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills on technical and non-technical matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly, plan own work and self-manage.
  • Ability to travel to off site locations, in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
