As part of the MISMEC project partners have been required to organise and co-organise national and international awareness activities to make SMEs aware of, and interested in FP6
International Events
MISMEC partners promoted FP6 at seven international events.

2006-04-12 / BS attended Business& Enginering Challenges in Micro Manufacturing arranged by 4M FP6 project. General interchange of information on manufacturing systems at mocro and nano level.The future will require SMEs to cluster in order to be able to offer several manufacturing technologies. / Cardiff / 13/80 / WDA
2006-02-14 / 3GSM Barcelona One of the major subjects of the meetings was to find partners for upcoming FP IST calls / Barcelona / 20/200 / MATIMOP
2004-11-08 / Within Telecom 2004, MATIMOP organised a Brokerage Event with pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings. Dozens of companies from all over Europe participated in this Brokerage event. initially 340 companies from Israel were invited. Later on, more than 30 European companies have registered to the Brokerage event. The meetings enabled direct discussion between the companies on technological cooperation. / Tel Aviv, Israel / 68/340 / MATIMOP

Observation 1. – SME participants at National events have not expressed a desire to travel to similar international FP6 events. International events need to be woven into broader events which are attractive to SMEs and to which they will travel. This needs to be done in a way that will not dilute the MISMEC message.
Observation 2 - National events are easier to organise and are also easier for SMEs to participate in. It is also easier to get SMEs involved in projects in their own countries. Promotional events undertaken within trade fairs were not successful as the majority of attendees were looking for trade deals. Direct contact by the project partners with NOE and IP coordinators were probably more successful in getting SMEs involved. Events organised by the NOEs and IPs were also perceived to be more useful than general awareness events.
