Individual literacy and communication support / £16216 / Continued activity.
Cost Centre: Pupil Premium Salaries / Targeted literacy and communication interventions (reading, writing, spelling and phonics) provided by two experienced teaching assistants in regular 1:1 teaching sessions.

Ongoing all year. / Students’ communication, readingskills (accuracy, comprehension and rate), writing and spelling will show improvement. / Records of baseline levels andindividual pupil progress will be monitored by Heads of Primary and Secondary and Headteacher. Neale Analysis will be administered in July 2016 by WH and KL to all children working within these levels. / 2016-17 End of Year progress data (EYFS, National Curriculum and Neale Analysis) showed very good progress against baseline levels by students receiving targeted 1:1 literacy/communication support.

Support of Steve Brown, Behaviour Consultant and ASD Specialist (social, emotional, mental health and behavioural needs) / £2271 / Continued activity.
Cost Centre: Pupil Premium
4 Pupil Premium students / Steve Brown to work directly with students and parents of 6Pupil Premium children with complex social, emotional and mental health needs. Targeted work to continue for twelve months. / Direct work with parents, pupils and staff to improve consistency of approach with regard to behaviour management and relationships at home and school. Improved behaviour at home and school will enable students to learn more effectively and make greater progress. / Work with staff, students and parents monitored by Heads of Primary/Secondary and Headteacher.
Progress with regard to behaviour monitored by formteachers and Head of Primary/Secondary in liaison with parents.
Success evidenced by behaviour records, verbal feedback from parents(with regard to home situation) and progress in learning. / Behaviour support was provided for 4students and families over 12-month period. Success seen with regard to school and home situation for Y11 and Y13 students, one with ASD diagnosis and one with SEMH. Strategies in place at school and home to support them and self-control strategies being developed. No exclusions in 2016-17 for pupil with severe SEMH needs. A thirdstudent was supported to manage hersevere anxiety and interaction difficulties by participation in social interaction group and individual sessions. Fourth student engaged well with SB when in school but severe mental health difficulties impacted on his ability to access school. Attendance fell in comparison to previous year. Support ongoing. Referral made to social care for family support worker.
SB also provided training for all staff on de-escalating conflict and supporting ASC needs.
Specialist Music and Music Therapy (2 LAC students; weekly individual sessions in voice and music therapy) / £1716 + £858

Cost Centre: Music LAC and Pupil Premium (Peripatetic music) / Specialist weekly individual music therapy support provided for 2 LAC children, both exhibiting challenging behaviour.
Weekly specialist voice tuition also provided for both children.
Ongoing all year. / Weekly specialist music therapy for two children with VI, emotional and challenging behaviour. Voice tuition to be provided as this is an area of strength for both children and will help to raise self-esteem. Improved behaviour, self esteem and emotional stability will enhance learning capability. / Music Therapist,

Impact will be measured by improvement in behaviour and increase in self esteem recorded for both students over this period of time (evidenced in behaviour records, pupil reviews, LAC reviews and exclusion data). / Some continued progress seen by both LAC students accessingspecialist music tuition or music therapy support. Children showed engagement in voice lessons and performed in assemblies/concerts.However it is felt that for both students specialist input into the development of receptive and expressive communication skills would be of greater benefit at this time as this acts as a barrier for both children. Specialist speech and language therapy therefore to be purchased in the coming year due to lack of availability of NHS speech and language therapy provision.
Specialist Music and Music Therapy (8FSMstudents: weekly individual and small group sessions in Voice, drumming, violin, Trumpet,keyboard, trombone, Music Therapy) / £1716 + 4466 = £6182 / Continued Activity
Cost Centre: Pupil Premium / Weekly specialist individual and small group music sessions provided in range of instruments and voice coaching.
Without this funding such lessons could not be financed by school or parents.
Ongoing all year. / Weekly specialist individual and small group music sessions in range of instruments and voice coaching will improve individual pupils’ music capabilities, confidence and self-esteem. Opportunities to perform in front of others will also boost confidence and self esteem. / Progress will be measured, recorded and reported by peripatetic music services and specialist music therapist. Musical progress will be monitored by John McGonagle, music teacher, and increase in confidence and self-esteem will be monitored by formteachers and Heads of Primary and Secondary Departments. / Good progress seen by all students undertaking specialist music sessions, not only in actual music skills (see music records) but also in overall confidence and self-esteem. All 8students performed individually or as part of small groups in end of term assemblies in front of their peers and staff. All show strong engagement in school and overall good attendance.
Weekly transport from GMAC to student homes for extra-curricular judo lessons subsidised for 8 FSM and 2 LAC students- Autumn Term 2016 / £750 / Continued Activity
Cost Centre: Pupil Premium / Subsidised transport from weekly judo lessons at GMAC to student homes for 10 FSM and 2 LAC students. Autumn Term 2016 / Transport will enable identified pupils to participate in weekly extra-curricular judo lessons. Without transport they would not be able to take part. Judo lessons will increase confidence and contribute to physical fitness of students. 1stand 2ndMon gradings to be obtained by group. / Participation, progress in judo and increase in fitnesswill be monitored, recorded and reported byJeremy Adams PE teacher.
Increase in confidence and self esteem will be monitored by formteachers and Heads of Primary and Secondary Departments. / 8 FSM and 2 LAC students took part in weekly West Midlands judo lessons, increasing fitness levels, confidence and social interaction skills. Good progress seen by all, but activity had to cease at end of Autumn Term due to insufficient funds for transportation of non-Pupil Premium students. Judo sessions in the future to be based at the school with parental transport where available. Other judo classes to be delivered in lunchtime clubs to avoid transport issue.
Residential visit to BlackwellOutdoorLearning Centre / £2232.50 / Continued pupil premium activity
Cost Centre: Pupil Premium residential / Residential visit to Blackwell Outdoor Learning Centre subsidised for 16Pupil Premium students and 2 LAC students. / Identified students to participate in camping and outdoor pursuits (abseiling, swimming, crate building, zip wire) to contribute to developing fitness and Independent Living Skills and buildingconfidence. / Participation and fitness will be monitored by Head of PE and pupil enjoyment/confidence ascertained by questionnaire and staff observation. ILS skills monitored by mobility staff. / Very successful residential visit to BlackwellOutdoor Learning Centre was subsidised for 2 LAC students, 1 post-LAC student and 16 FSM students. Students took part in a wide range of outdoor pursuits, increasing their physical skills, confidence and ILS skills. Pupil enjoyment and engagement was extremely high, as evidenced by staff observations and pupil feedback on return.
Individual and small group tuition in specialist ICT access skills: 15Pupil Premiumstudents; 2 LAC students (1 post-LAC student to CCTV. to support class-based learning) / £3448.50 plus £1800 for individual post-LAC student / Continued pupil premium activity
Cost Centre: Pupil premium specialist ICT salaries and pupil Premium post-LAC / Individual tuition provided by experienced and skilled teachingassistant/teachers in specialist ICT skills i.e. touch-typing, Jaws, Zoomtext, BrailleNote.
Ongoing all year. / ICT access skills of targeted students will improve, enabling greater independencein accessing ICT and increased fluency in written work. Levels achieved in touch-typing will improve. / Progress in ICT access and touch-typing skills will be measured against baseline levels for each student, recorded and reported by ICT tutors and monitored by Heads of Primary and Secondary Departments. / 15 FSM students received individual or small group specialist tuition in Jaws, Zoomtext, BrailleNote or touch-typing in 2016-17. All students improved their independent ICT access, as evidenced by ICT records of progress andby students’independent application of these skills within other lessons.
