President's Cabinet Retreat Minutes

President Mitchell introduced Vice President for Student Support & Achievemtn, Damon Bell and Human Resources Executive Director, Lynnette De Shaw.

Planning Task Force Leadership Team (PTFLT) Presentation

Bruce Riveland explained the need for the Collaborative Strategic Planning Process. Val Torrensspoke about the process for the planning and explained that they plan to solicit feedback from all employees to garner a plan that is truly OC driven. Val led a discussion on the various phases of the process. Discussion followed.

Cabinet members discussed their responsibilities in this process. The type of data to becollected was alsodeliberated.

Mock interviews were conducted so that Cabinet members could get a sense of how the campus interviews will be conducted. They were able to then understand how the data collected from the interviews would be used in the planning process.

Homeland Security Exercise

Amanda Gebhardt-Fuentes and Ed Call talked about the upcoming Homeland Security Shooter on Campus event that will occur on September 20th. Olympic College will host this training event. They explained the impact of this exercise. Amanda and Ed are working with Kitsap Emergency Management to notify everyone who may be affected: employees, neighbors, students, Sophia Bremer Child Care children, etc. The plan for this exercise was explained and discussed by Cabinet members.

Exempt Salary Survey Research

The current legislation provides little flexibility for salary. Cabinet members endorsed reviewing the administrative salary scheduled and studying retention and equity issues.

Joan Hanten explained a salary review process she went through. New salary bands determined by jobskills will be proposed.

2013-2014 Work Plan

President Mitchell talked about the upcoming Board of Trustees Retreat. He explained the topics that he will discuss with them and how they fit into his 13-14 work plan.

Debrief and Wrap Up

Each Cabinet member spoke briefly about their goals for the upcoming college year.
