Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. is sponsored by The Walker Foundation, Feild Co-Operative, and The Greater Jackson Arts Council.

Produced by New Stage’s Broadway Junior Summer Camp Intensive, Singin’ in the Rain, Jr.,has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.

“I am so glad that we are able to produce Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. this year,” said Summer Day Camp Director Chris Roebuck. “When I was growing up, this was one of my favorite movies, and one of the reasons that I wanted to pursue acting and theatre as a career. And with double casting the show, it gives more students an opportunity to shine, and gives me and the camp staff more opportunities to impart some of our theatrical experience to the students.”

As the culminating production of the four-week Broadway Junior Summer Theatre Intensive, Singin’ in the Rain, Jr. is ready for production.Director Chris Roebuck recruited Choreographer Chiquila Pearson and Music Director Harlan Zackery, Jr. to assist him in this production. Both are professionals working in the community.
