Abstract—These instructions give you the guidelines for preparing papers for publishing in the Proceedings of SYMPOL 2017 and IEEE Explore. Use this document as a template. Specific guidelines are given for all elements such as abstract, headings, figures, tables, references etc. . The paper title should be provided in upper and lower case letters, as in the template. To maintain uniformity and quality for the Proceedings of SYMPOL 2017, care must be taken to adhere to the stylesprescribed in this template. The abstract should not exceed 100 words.

Index Terms—About four keywords or phrases in alphabetical order separated by commas. eg. Keyword1, Keyword2, Keyword3

First Author etal.: Title of the paper in italics(Initial and Noun Caps)

1.Introduction

Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word using this template. Use the template by substituting text in each field. Alternatively, save a copy of the template, delete the contents, and use the relevant style from the style list. For example, use ‘Title’ style for the title, ‘Abstract’ style for the abstract, ‘Normal’ style for the text and so on.

Ensure that you allow adequate space for the title, as indicated on the template used for this document. The manuscript will be used exactly as prepared. The print out must be configured for 8" x 11.5" and the text on any page should be confined such that the top margin is 1.85", bottom margin is 1.95", left margin is 1.4"and right margin is 1.4". The headings, text or figures should not overflow into the margins.

2.Main Title

The main title (on the first page) should begin after the logo from the top edge of the page, centered, and in Times 16-point, boldface font. Capitalize the first letter of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Do not capitalize articles, coordinate conjunctions, or prepositions (unless the title begins with such a word). The main title should be prepared using the Title style in the template.

3.AuthorNames and Affiliations

The author names and affiliations are to be centered beneath the title and in Times11-point, boldface font. Multiple authors may be shown as in the template with their affiliations in italics and centered as in the template. Please include e-mail addresses also, if possible. Author information should be prepared using the Author style in the template.

4.Second and Succeeding Pages

The second and succeding pages should be prepared using the same page setup but the odd page footer should contain the‘first author etal.:title of the paper’ (to be shortened if exceeding more than a line) and the even page footer should contain the wordings ‘PROCEEDINGS OFSYMPOL 2013’ as in the template.

5.Font Styles

Wherever Times is specified, Times Roman or Times New Roman may be used. If neither is available, use the font closest in appearance to Times. Avoid using Bitmap fonts. TrueType fonts are preferred.

6.Main Text

The main text should be in 10-point Times, single-spaced. Do not use double-spacing. All paragraphs should be indented 1/4 inch (approximately 0.5 cm). Be sure your text is fully justified. Please do not place any additional blank lines betweenparagraphs.

Figures and table captions should be in 10-point boldface Helvetica (or a similar sans-serif font). Callouts should be in 9-point non-boldface Helvetica. Initially capitalize only the first word of each figure caption and table title. Figures and tables must be numbered separately. For example: ‘Figure 1. Database contexts’, ‘Table 1. Input data’. Figure captions are to be centered below the figures. Table titles are to be centered above the tables.

7.Heading 1

The Heading 1, e.g. ‘1. Introduction’ and ‘2. Main title’, should be in Times 14-point boldface font, initially capitalized, flush left, with one blank line before, and one blank line after. Use a period (‘.’) after the heading number, not a colon. Use Heading 1 style from the template.

7.1 Heading 2

The ‘Heading 2’ should be in Times 12-point boldface font, initially capitalized, flush left, with one blank line before, and one after. Use Heading 2 style in the template.

7.1.1Heading 3. ‘Heading 3’, as in this paragraph, is discouraged. However, if you must use them, use 11-point Times, boldface, initially capitalized, flush left, preceded by one blank line, followed by a period and your text on the same line.

8.Footnotes

Use footnotes sparingly (or not at all) and place them at the bottom of the column on the page on which they are referenced. Use 8-point Times for footnotes. To help your readers, avoid using footnotes altogether and include necessary peripheral observations in the text (within parentheses, if you prefer, as in this sentence).

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments should be included before the References of the manuscript. The heading should read ‘‘Acknowledgments,’’ and be in bold face font. The acknowledgments section should not be numbered. The number of a grant or contract should be omitted unless its inclusion is required by the agency supporting the research, although a descriptive title for the research program may be given.‘Acknowledgments’ style should be used for the heading‘ACKNOWLEDGMENTS’ and ‘Normal’ style should be used for the text. ‘Acknowledgments’ is in all caps, boldface and spacing before ‘Acknowledgments’is 12 point and spacing after‘Acknowledgments’is 3 point.

References

List and number all bibliographical references in 9-point Times, single-spaced, at the end of your paper. When referenced in the text, enclose the citation number in square brackets, for example [1]. Where appropriate, include the name(s) of editors of referenced books. The word ‘‘References’’ should head the section (which should not be numbered) in boldface fontdirectly above the first reference. The References style can be used for the heading while REF_STYLE can be used for the references
