The Data Controller for Leicestershire Police is the Chief Constable, Leicestershire Police Headquarters, St Johns, Enderby, Leicester LE19 2BX.

The purpose of data collection is for recruitment, selection and administration. The information collected will then be held as part of the personal record. 10. Vetting Policy

In accordance with the ACPO/ACPOS National Vetting Policy for the Police Community, Leicestershire Police is required to carry out security checks on all individuals to be employed as police staff members.

In order to facilitate this requirement, a detailed vettingquestionnaire is required to be completed by applicants. This will cover the applicant and relevant third parties.

The information contained within the questionnaire enables a number of checks, including the National Collection of Criminal records and relevant departmental and Police records, Security Service Records and Credit Reference checks with a review of personal finances to be undertaken.

The Police Community is committed to the maintenance of the highest levels of honesty and integrity, and to the prevention of; corrupt; dishonest; unethical or unprofessional behaviour.

The purpose of vetting is to protect the community and the organisation by ensuring that only those who demonstrate the highest standards of conduct, honesty and integrity are recruited or appointed.

  • actions intended to overthrow or undermine Parliamentary democracy by political, industrial or violent means;
