Personal Injury, Medical, Dental & Travel Expenses Insurance

Here is a summary of the cover provided by The Scout Association Personal Injury, Medical, Dental & Travel Expenses Insurance Group Policy which is underwritten by ACE European Group Limited - whose main business is general insurance, which is registered in England Number 1112892, Head Office 100 Leadenhall Street, London, EC3A 3BP and which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority, registration number FRN202803.

Persons Insured

The policy covers all members of the Scout Association whose units are situated in the United Kingdom (including Scotland) as recorded at Headquarters, members of Scoutlink Clubs, prospective members including those attending authorised “Scoutreach” activities and members of British Scout Units in foreign countries. Where cover has been arranged with ACE, cover extends to include; adult Supporters and Helpers; non members under the age of 18 years attending &/or participating in the activities of the Group Policyholder; Foreign and Commonwealth Scouts visiting the UK.

Period of Insurance

Cover commences on 1st January 2005 (or, if later, the date cover is arranged with ACE) and continues until 30th November 2005.

Cover operates whilst a Policyholder is participating in organised Scouting activities including travel thereon thereto and therefrom.

Where cover has been arranged for Foreign and Commonwealth Scouts visiting the UK cover applies whilst participating in organised Scouting activities within the United Kingdom including travel between such Policyholder's country of residence and the United Kingdom

Personal Injury Insurance Cover

If, during the effective time whilst the Group Policy is in force, a Policyholder: suffers an accident which causes Bodily Injury; contracts an Illness; or incurs Medical Expenses &/or Travel Expenses &/or Dental Expenses as a result of sustaining Bodily Injury or becoming ill,

ACE will pay the appropriate Benefit(s) up to the amounts shown in the Schedule of Benefits below.

Temporary Total Disablement resulting from a Bodily Injury
a.£75 per week aged 16 years and over in full time gainful employment or weekly wage whichever is the lesser subject to an Excess of £150 OR
b.£20 per week aged 16 years and over not in full time gainful employment subject to an Excess of £100
Illness
.£75 per week aged 16 years and over in full time gainful employment or weekly wage whichever is the lesser subject to an Excess of £150 OR
2.£20 per week aged 16 years and over not in full time gainful employment subject to an Excess of £100

Medical, Travel & Dental Expenses

1.Medical&/or Travel expenses incurred in respect of Bodily Injury sustained or illness occurring outside of the United Kingdom /the Policyholder's country of residence
2.Medical Expenses incurred in respect of Bodily Injury sustained or illness occurring within the United Kingdom/the Policyholder's country of residence subject to the Policyholder using NHS facilities wherever possible.

EXCLUSIONS (See General Exclusions and the Specific Exclusions under each section of the policy document).

Suicide or deliberate self-inflicted injury; aviation as a pilot or crew member, unless as part of organised Scouting Activities, active service in the armed forces; war or any act thereof.

Cancellation Rights

A Policyholder may cancel the insurance in respect of himself/herself alone within 14 days of their commencement date of cover by writing to the Customer Service Manager, ACE Service Centre, Ashdown House, 125 High Street, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 1DQ, Tel: 01293 726060 ACE may cancel this Policy by giving 14 days written notice to the Group Policyholder at their last known address

CLAIM PROVISIONS

On the happening of any occurrence likely to give rise to a claim under this Policy notice shall be given to the Claims Service Team,ACE Service Centre, Ashdown House, 125 High Street, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 1DQ within 30 days or as soon as reasonably possible after the date of the occurrence.

The existence of these complaints procedures does not affect any right legal action a Policyholder may have against ACE.

FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPENSATION SCHEME

In the unlikely event of ACE being unable to meet its liabilities, the Policyholder may be entitled to compensation under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
