Padbury CE School Newsletter AutumnTerm 2017

Issue 4 11th October 2017

Our value this half term is ‘co-operation’

Luke 6:38 (Words of Jesus)

“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

Lily (aged 7)

‘’When you co-operate it means you don’t just think about yourself but you think about others too.’’

Celebration Assembly

Due to a series of events happening at school on Thursdays Celebration Assemblies for parents will recommence on Thursday 16th November. Please do make a note in your diaries.

Doors will open at 2.25pm for a 2.30 start. Please come to the Hall door by the drop off and collection area.

Head Lice

Primary school children can be affected by head lice because they often work closely together which enables the lice to spread easily from one child’s head to another. As a precautionary measure, we ask parents to regularly check their child’s hair, particularly if they are scratching their heads more than usual.

If you think your child may be affected by head lice, please could you check your child’s hair and treat if it is necessary. Wet combing with conditioner and a small toothed comb is considered a good method of detecting and removing head lice.

Long Hair

Please remember that all long hair needs to be completely tied up while your child is at school; an ‘Alice Band’ is not usually sufficient.

Football at Lunchtimes

We would like the children to continue playing football during the winter. In order to accommodate this they will have to use the field; therefore they will need to bring in a pair of old jogging bottoms (which can be pulled over their school trousers) and an old pair of trainers (not football boots). Please make sure that these items are clearly named and are in a plastic bag; they will be stored outside Oak Classroom.

A Message from Rev Ros
The St Mary's Padbury Harvest Lunch is, as usual, at the Village Hall onSUNDAY 15TH OCTOBER AT 12.30PM.Ticket prices are as last year:
Adult tickets £8.00
Child Tickets £5.00

Do bring your own drinks.

Please let me know if you are coming and how many tickets you would like; and do remember to spread the word!

Harvest

Our Harvest Celebration at St Mary’s Church will take place on Monday 16th October. It will begin at 9.15 am. All parents and family members are welcome.

This year we willonce againbe donating any produce or donations to the ‘soup service’ / ‘food bank’ at St Peter and St Paul’s Church in Buckingham. They would prefer non-perishable items or donations if possible.

Here is some information about the Soup Service.

The Soup Service is what people will tell you never exists - a free meal! Every Tuesday between Noon and 1.30pm we turn the Church into a restaurant andoffer a full meal of Soup, a main and a pudding with tea or coffee thrown in - all totally free. We do ask for donations towards the cost from those that can afford it.

We usually welcome around 40 people every week from across all ages and it is a wonderful time to meet new people and for those who may struggle with loneliness to be amongst others. We even have a minibus that taxis people to lunch.

There is a wonderful team of volunteers in the kitchen (more always welcome!) and you will be guaranteed a very warm welcome. If you would like to learn more about this contact the parish office.

It would be helpful to the school if any donations of either money or harvest gifts from the children could be brought in on the day of the Harvest Celebration so we can deliver them to the Church in good time before our service.
