Overview of GHG Emissions Calculations:

ATCAA has used the required ARBWater-Energy Grant Program GHG Calculator for FY 2015-16 Version 2, without modification, to embedded algorithms or format.

One assumption was employed based on email feedback provided by an ARB GGRFProgramrepresentative. Since version 2 of the tool only allows a dropdown menu option of “electric” or “natural gas” as an energy source, the assumption presumes that CO2e emissions reductions are equivalent for users of natural gas and propane. The following email documents the ARB acceptance of this assumption.

ATCAA has estimated the quantity of implemented materials based on actual performance of an existing Proposition 84, Round 2 implementation program, which is in the 4th quarter of performance.Based on current performance and additional Proposition 84 Drought Round funding for similar services starting this quarter, the quantity of materials estimated in our 2016 Water-Energy Grant Proposal is considered conservative. Due to our ability to leverage these other programs, the actual quantity implemented on this program is considered very deterministic. In other words, if necessary or required, the number of Washers or Dishwashers implemented on this program can be increased above the estimated 50% of households by designating them as 2016 Water-Energy Grant homes, while other measures beyond the scope of this proposed project are designated as Prop-84 measures.

Detailed Description of Calculations:

Based on workplan estimates of material quantities implemented over the duration of the project, quantity amounts were input into the tool. The following are estimated quantities of materials considered in the two IRWM regions.

Summing the “Quantity of Materials” number for the two regions yields the following aggregate summary. Note that a percentage of homes using Electricity and Natural Gas/Propane as their primary energy source is estimated based on historical data within the service areas. The calculation also breaks down the percentage of Washer/Dryer pairs that are Front Load and Top Load; apportioning the estimated number of W/D even further, based on estimated energy source.

Using the provided ARB GHG calculator, a total of eight (8) “residential input” tabs were required to calculate the total savings, given the variables defined in the above summary. Since the tool is limited to three (3) residential input tabs per file, ATCAA has submitted three files as documentation in Attachment 2a. The first file includes all types of dishwasher, bathroom and kitchen faucets, showerheads and the first three types of washer/dryer energy savings. The second file includes the next three types of W/D savings and the third file includes the last two types of W/D replacement savings. The aggregate savings is summarized in the following table.
