Overnight Hosting Job Description

As you may remember, visiting campus is an exciting part of every student’s college search! In particular, an overnight stay is a great way for a student to get a “feel” for the College and determine if Carroll is the right fit. Overnight hosting is also an awesome opportunity for current students to begin involvement in the recruitment of new students as serving as a host may lead to other positions within the Carroll Admission Office. This position does not require any experience, just a friendly, welcoming attitude and a sincere desire to represent Carroll College.

First year students living on campus are especially encouraged to apply!!!

Job responsibilities:

  • Attendance at a mandatory training meeting at12:15 p.m.Thursday, February 15th,and will occur as needed throughout the semester. All hired hostsmust attend the training session.
  • Familiarization with facts and procedures included in training materials and responsibilities. Visiting students will have many questions, so we want you to feelhave the tools you need to feel comfortable in your role as a host.
  • We ask you to take the visiting student(s) to dinner and breakfast (or arrange for a friend to do so), and allow the student(s) to sleep on your residence hall room floor. While you are not expected to entertain your student(s) at all times we do ask that you include your guest in activities and conversations that you enjoy with your friends.Your guest will appreciate a chance to meet other students and join campus activities.
  • You will be asked to meet your student around 4:45 pm the evening of their stay. They will be provided with meal cards for dinner and breakfast.

Not only will you be getting to help share your love of Carroll, but there is also an incentive!Compensation will be a $15.00 gift card to either Starbucks or Target, per night ($20 if you host 2 prospective students).Gift cards will be distributed the first week of May to your campus mailbox.

Work-study eligibility is not required to be a host or assist with campus visit programs!This is a fun way to get to meet visitors and earn a little something extra in the process.

Selection will be based on demonstrated interest, schedule availability, overnight host team balance, and resident hall location (we are looking primarily for Freshman and Sophomores living in Guad or Saint Charles). Positions will be offered to individuals, rather than rooms. If two roommates are both offered a position, they will each be required to fulfill their hosting obligations separately.

Please submit completed application to the Office of Admission by 4:00 pm onFriday, February9th.

Selections will be emailed onWednesday, February14th.

Overnight Hosting Policies

General Visitor Policy

All visitors in the residence halls are expected to act responsibly, follow all Carroll College policies and show consideration and respect for the individual rights of others living in the residence halls. Student visitors are not to leave campus, unless accompanied by an Admission Staff member or unless prior approval for Carroll sponsored events is obtained.

Alcohol Policy

Each campus visitor is responsible for compliance with local, state, federal and College policy regarding alcohol use. As a guest of Carroll College, a visitor may not transport, possess, or consume alcohol on Carroll’s campus or be present in a residence hall room where alcohol is being consumed. As a host, you are not to take a student to a residence hall where alcohol is being consumed, or assist in the transportation, possession, or consumption of alcohol.

Drug Policy

In accordance with local, state, and federal laws, Carroll forbids the use, possession, or distribution of illegal drugs by any person, student, or campus visitor. Information which comes to the attention of College officials will be reported to public officials.

Smoking Policy

A campus visitor is not permitted to smoke in the dorm rooms. School policy declares that there is no smoking in public areas, including hallways, stairways, phone booths, or lobbies. Smoking is not allowed on campus as we are now a Tobacco Free Campus.
