We have offices in Milton Keynes and Gateshead and satellite offices in London and the southeast of England. We are very committed to sustainability and to creating a positive working environment. We have recently attained the Gold Standard of Investors In People.

The Post

This vacancy is for a position within our Design Team based in Warrington, for a 3D Visualiser and CAD Technician. The primary role of the design team is to produce landscape designs for a range of public and private sector developments. However there is a particular niche which is related to our Landscape and Visual Assessment work. We are often to be asked to produce ‘verified photomontages’ of developments to assist in the understanding ofhow a new development fits within an existing environment, whether in a rural or urban setting. These images are not for marketing purposesbut form a very specific tool to help with the planning process.

The main thrust of thisrole will be to produce verified photomontages, following industry guidelines, fordevelopments and in particular energy infrastructure projects, such as overhead power lines, for use in planning applications and public enquiries.

Generally we work with other consultants who produce the 3D components and our role is to set up the models, import survey data and render these models in 3D Max and then combine the render in Photoshop to produce a final verified image. The role will also involve visiting sites to take high resolution photographs accompanied by surveyors to plot camera positions and reference points.

In addition to the verified photomontage work, we also produce visuals for our public realm work again via a combination of 3D Max and Photoshop. An aspect of the advertised role will be to continue to improve the quality of our outputs to provide photorealistic imagery for developments.

We are looking for someone with a passion for visualisation and who has relevant qualifications and experience in the field. We welcome approaches from people particularly with a background in architecture or landscape architecture. We are willing to consider candidates with potential to grow into the role and who show a willingness to lead this aspect of work as the business grows. There is the potential for TEP to take on more of the modelling aspect of this work and subject to us recruiting the right person we see future potential in this field.

From time to time you will also be expected to provide 2D drawing support across the business so an ability to understand and accurately interpret instructions from fellow professionals is a key aspect of the job.

We are currently looking at the requirements of BIM and how this relates to our work and a further aspect of the job may well be working with AutoCAD Civil 3D, if we choose to invest in this software.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Skilled in the use of 3D Max, AutoCAD and Photoshop
  • Flair for composition, lighting and imagery
  • Excellent graphical presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to prioritise and manage work workload.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, including Access, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Attention to detail and committed to accuracy
  • Able to work well alone and also as part of a team

Desirable:

  • Skills developed whilst working in a consultancy environment
  • Previous experience of visualisations for the energy sector
  • Landscape or Architecturebackground
  • Proficient at InDesign
  • Experience of BIM and related software

The successful candidate will be based in our Warrington office but will be expected to travel from time to time, including staying overnight at different locations, to meet the requirements of projects.

Attractive salary including pension scheme and payment of professional subscriptions. Salary will be dependent on experience.
