UK Space Design Competition – Huddersfield- Saturday, 14 November 2015

Design a Space Colony

I would like to invite your son/daughter to take part in the Regional Heat at Huddersfield University of this year’s UK Space Design Competition. Three selected students from Scalby will form an eleven strong team alongside three Scarborough College and five Scarborough 6Form students. I anticipate that the event will be immensely rewarding giving your son/daughter experience working in a team using a wide range of creative and scientific skills.

Students will be accompanied by Dr Harron, Lead Practitioner in Science, throughout the day. Catering and security will be provided and we will stay as a team in one supervised location in the University from arrival at 8.00 am to departure at 10.00 pm. Our travel arrangements will transport students to and from Scalby School to Huddersfield University and back by Taxi. We will be using a Nippy Taxi and the school will be paying. Although catering will be provided, it would be a good idea to bring a small amount of money for vending machines.

Proposed Itinerary:

6am: Depart Scarborough.
8am: Arrive Huddersfield University meeting with Scarborough College.
8am until 10pm: Meet the rest of the Scarborough team and take part in the competition at Huddersfield University
10pm Competition finishes, leave Huddersfield
Midnight (approx.): Arrive back in Scarborough.

Dr Harron will take a school mobile phone to inform parents of any changes to this itinerary.

For your child to be able to attend please complete the permission slip below and return it to school. If you have not already returned the medical form sent to you by Mr McCluskie at the beginning of the academic year, please return it with the slip below. Without this form we regret your child will not be able to participate in this excursion. If you have returned your child’s form but the medical details have changed please inform us of the changes.
