Supporting Information
This section gives you the opportunity to demonstrate why you are suitable for the post. Before completing it, refer to the job description and person specification for the job.
The job description outlines the main tasks of the post and the person specification contains a description of the skills and experience necessary to carry out these tasks. It is essential to relate your experience to the information given in these by giving specific examples, e.g. telling us how you demonstrated a particular skill, rather than simply saying that you have it.
You may wish to draw on skills developed outside of work, whether home-based or social/community activities.
References
No appointment will be made without two satisfactory references being received: one should be from your current or most recent employer. Both references should be able to comment on your suitability for the role. We will only request references for candidates who have been successful once a verbal offer has been accepted.
Diversity Monitoring
Age UK York values diversity and promotes equality. We encourage and welcome applications from suitably skilled candidates from all backgrounds. Monitoring recruitment and selection procedures is one way of helping us to ensure that there is no unfair discrimination in the way that we recruit people. To do this we need to know about the diversity profile of people who apply for posts with us. This information is given in confidence for monitoring purposes only and is not seen by anyone responsible for making recruitment decisions.
Data Protection
Your application is treated in the strictest confidence. Information collected through the recruitment process is kept on file for six months and is then shredded. If you are successful, relevant information will be retained on your personnel file.
Criminal records
Some posts within the Age UK York are exempt from some provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, because they involve working with vulnerable adults, or access to sensitive information. If you are successful in being offered one of these posts, we will ask you to complete a form for a Disclosure check and any offer of employment will be subject to that check. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you being employed by Age UK York and each case will be considered individually.
We hope that you are successful in your application. However, if you are not, please do not be discouraged from applying for other posts in the organisation. Thank you for your interest in Age UKYork.
