OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA MARCH 27, 2016

INVITATION TO THE LITURGY OF THE DAY

On this holy daywe know that Christ is risen—truly risen! As we joyfully proclaim God’s holy word, renew our baptismal promises and join together in the great Eucharistic feast, may we be motivated to go forth proclaiming the marvelous deeds that God has done for us.

INTRODUCTION TO THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

Acts 10:34a, 37-43Peter is an eyewitness: The Lord is risen.

Psalm 118“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.”

Col 3:1-4All who were baptized, set your hearts

in heaven.

John 20:1-9Three witnesses, Mary, Peter and John

Respond to the empty tomb.

Today’s scriptures each tell the story of the Resurrection from a different perspective. St. Peter in the reading from the Acts of the Apostles tells us how the Resurrection inspired the earlyChurch and St. Paul offers his recommendations for how to respond to the Resurrection inour own lives. Our Gospel simply relates the story of the empty tomb and leaves each of us with a question to ponder: What does it mean to you that Christ is risen from the dead?

THE RACE (Jn 20:1-9)

At times it seems my life is racing

for the tomb.

I find the stone is rolled.

I wait to enter

the empty cold

that waits for me.

There is no stench,

Just linen cloth

Neatly placed

Upon the floor

Imprinted with a form:

It is the Lord!

And he is gone.

Even more

It is the Lord!

I touch the blood

That hemorrhaged from

The one who’s disappeared.

It is the Lord!

Where has he gone?

His absence is my greatest fear.

No! My greatest hope!

My life is racing

For the One

Who from within

Can turn a stone.-- Rita A. Simmonds
