A chairde,

Our Annual Skipathon takes place on Friday next. All support is greatly appreciated. We do not recommend that children go from door to door fundraising, for safety reasons. If each family gets even one sponsor it will all add up. Thanks.

Please note that school will be closed on Monday and Tuesday next due to Bank holiday weekend. I hope that you all enjoy the break and hopefully the weather will improve. The next Imlitir will be issued on Monday May 14th.

It is our school policy to inform parents/guardians when the National Education Welfare Board get notification from us (legal requirement) regarding days missed by pupils. It is most important that the school is informed, by note, letter or cert of the reason for absences. The homework journal has notes for this purpose.

Green News

April is nearly gone. Well done once again to the classes who took part in National Clean-Up month – Mrs. Hoey and all in Room 19, Mrs Dobie and all in Room 9 and Ms Murphy and all in Room 15. Their efforts made a huge difference to the grounds of the church and the school. Check out the school website for great photos of these volunteers at work!

Room 21 have been busy gardening and our herb garden is looking very appetising! Well done guys!

The weather has not been cooperative towards our C.O.W. and W.O.W. days for that past two weeks. Hopefully this Wednesday we will be back in business. Keep an eye on your text messages for updates. Remember the Dublin Road pick-up point is at Dillon Court.

National Walk to school week will happen in May. It coincides nicely with Sports Day at St Mary’s (May 25th). Green-Schools across the country will encourage pupils, parents and teachers to walk to school by holding events such as Walk to School days, Walk on Wednesday (WOW), Feet First Friday, sponsored walks and walking fancy dress competitions. We may even get our Walking Bus in motion again that week. If any of you have any good ideas for fun, Green, healthy activities for that week, or if you would like to get involved, please let us know!

Hope all our Green homes are doing well, slimming bins and busting the Energy Vampire. This week we are revising the Energy Pledge at school so maybe you could think about it at home also.

Energy Pledge

We, the pupils of St. Mary’s school

Are going to do something very cool,

Promise to save energy every day

And be eco-friendly along the way

We can help the world, let’s start right now

At St Mary’s school we’ll show you how!

Remember to keep Green Cool at Home as well as at School!
