Emerging Issues:
4.2 / Wireless Update – Brian / Info
  • Early March for installation

  • Waiting for controller from Thunder Bay

  • Wireless will cover entire Orillia Academic building, residence, Heritage Place and Town Court locations

  • Laptops in classrooms may become an issue as to when they can be used as they will have access to internet – individual faculty members will have to monitor this on an individual basis.

  • Instructions for wireless is posted at:

4.3 / Budget Development – Brian / Info
  • Brian is required to submit budgets to Thunder Bay by the end of February, 2011.

  • Brian requires all information by the end of next week (Feb. 18th)

  • Additional staff positions are unapproved, but should receive approvals from Thunder Bay by the 1st week of March, 2011

4.4 / Space for LUSU at OA – Brian / Info
  • Additional space adjustments will soon take place which will allow LUSU

to move in by the end of the term
  • Kim and Shelley will be moving to the west end of the administration area which will allow Student Affairs to move to the east end.

  • Heritage Place renovations will begin once the educational students are out on placement (early March).

  • Preliminary meetings have already taken place with the Architect.

4.5 / Enrolment Numbers – Frank / Info
  • Covered enrolment target

4.6 / Residence Life Update - Frank / Info
  • The RFP is out for Residence Director through merx.com, closing March 5th, 2011

  • We have one application to date for the residence

4.7 / Convocation Update – Frank / Info
  • This will be held at the Orillia Sports Complex

  • LU will occupy both arenas

  • We will be renting stages and seating

  • Food will be served on site - no need to move to another location

4.8 / Changes to Awards Categories – Frank / Frank
  • This will be moved to next week’s Agenda

4.9 / Posting notices/events on Television at the HUB (Tim R.) / Info
  • Tim presented the “Concerto” program which is the program to display events/updates/notices

  • The right side of the TV screen is the HTML Text which we presently have the CBC News displayed

  • The left side of the TV screen is the Graphics pane which is LU news

  • The Graphics pane can be adjusted that an item can come up more often than others

  • It was agreed to set up a committee to establish approval process of what will be displayed

  • To start, the committee members will be:
Kathy Hunt, Tim Rowe, Chris Tomasini, and Simon Looker.
  • Katie Fraser will be able to do the uploading

  • Tim will provide training sessions

  • LUSU will also be involved

  • Tim will look into other potential T.V. locations

  • Question was asked regarding ability to run from a web link eg. local weather radar from weather network. Tim will look into this

4.10 / Summer Career Placement (Heidi) / Info
  • Program is now open for Summer 2011

  • Application period for employers is Feb. 1st to 28th, 2011

  • Public & private employers are eligible for up to 50% of min. hourly wage

  • Must be full-time (30 – 40 hours/week) for 16 weeks.

  • No stipulation for students to be on OSAP
