CAPC Minutes for October 21, 2008

Approval of Minutes

A motion was made by Romer, seconded by Burns-Ardolino, to approve the minutes from the meeting of October 7, 2008. Council approved unanimously. They are posted at

New Business

  1. Mooreexplained changes proposed by the College of Professional Studies. The summary memo gives complete overview. CPS met with the School of Business and made changes requested.There are three parts to request: 1. concentration changes, 2. new course proposals, and 3. prerequisite changes.

1.Prerequisite modifications:

  • TECH 3104 Ethics for Administrative & Technology Managers, prerequisite change – there was no discussion; a motion was made by Burns-Ardolino, seconded by Wan, approved by council. A second reading is not required.
  • TECH 4101 Human Resources for Administrative & Technology Managers, prerequisite change – No discussion; a motion was made by Burns-Ardolino, seconded by Bullen, council approved unanimously therefore no second reading is required.
  • TECH 4111 Leadership for Administrative & Technology Managers, prerequisite change – No discussion; a motion was made by Jeffrey, seconded by Krivosheev, approved unanimously by council therefore the second reading is waived.

2.New course proposals – a motion was made to approve all new course proposals as a group by Long, seconded by Wan, council approved.

  • TECH 3120 Fleet Planning and Scheduling, new course proposal – Council suggested editorial change to course to add 3-0-3 for the course hours. 3120 NewCourseProposal.pdf
  • TECH 3130 Leadership in the Aviation Industry, new course proposal – Council had no questions.

  • TECH 4115 Global Technology, new course proposal – Council had no questions.

A motion was made by Wan, seconded by Nipper to approve courses as amended, Council approved. Second reading is not required.

3.B.A.S. Program Concentration changes:

  • Technology Management – Computer Networking Concentration, revisions only
  • Technology Management – Project Supervision in a Technological Environment Concentration, name change and revisions
  • Technology Management – Aviation Administration Concentration, new concentration
  • Administrative Management – Organizational Supervision Concentration, new concentration – Burningham explained the change from Leadership to Supervision.
  • Administrative Management – Administrative Services Concentration, new concentration

Council had no questions about concentrations. A motion was made by Long, seconded by Krivosheev and approved unanimously by council; therefore, no second reading is required.
