QUESTION: What can the $1,000.00 mentioned in the OTS guidelines be used for and is it NAF or APF?

ANSWER: The $1,000.00 is NAF. The goal of the $1,000.00 is to help each installation enhance their show. It can be used for an audio system, lighting, video, judges, prizes, etc.

QUESTION: Who has to request the $1,000.00?

ANSWER: The request needs to come from the “front office”. Once your local show has taken place. The base will request a reimbursement form from Air Force Entertainment (, ). We will not need a breakdown of each individual expenditure, we simply need to know that you actually hosted a show and the Flight Chief, Deputy FSS or FSS Commander needs to submit an email for reimbursement of costs.

QUESTION: Can children of civilians compete in the base competition?

ANSWER: Yes, children of civilians can compete at the base level. As the guidelines state in Section 2: Eligibility, “All Active Duty, Reserve and Guard members and their immediate families are eligible to compete IF their base assigned conducts a base level contest and submits winning acts to AFSVA.”

QUESTION: What dates can my base have our contest?

ANSWER: The dates for the contests at base level are 15 April – 31 May 2015. The winners then need to be submitted to AFSVA NLT 19 June 2015 to be judged at Air Force level.

QUESTION: When will Air Force level winners be announced?

ANSWER: Air Force level winners will be announced on 30 June 2015 by your local FSS Commander.

QUESTION: Can a person outside of FSS be the host for the competition?

ANSWER: Yes, if there is someone on your installation that you know has the ability to conduct a great competition, definitely allow them to. We would like them to still work closely with FSS to ensure all guidelines are adhered to.

QUESTION: Can we create our own marketing materials for our local contest instead of using the marketing from Air Force level? We feel that it is a bit confusing with the prizes listed.

ANSWER: Yes, you can use marketing created at the local level. There are marketing materials at Download Central that may be used and customized for your local area.

First Place - $500.00

Second Place - $200.00

OVERALL BEST OF SHOW – Additional $500.00 and a trip to San Antonio to produce a professional video of their act and an opportunity to compete for the “Air Force Entertainer of the Year”.

BEST OF SHOW for Operation Talent Search will compete against the best of show winners from two other Air Force programs; Mission Audition and #vocalupload. These 3 Best of Show winners will all come to San Antonio to produce a professional video that will be uploaded to the Air Force portal/website to be voted on by CAC card holders across the Air Force. The winner will be announced as “The Air Force Entertainer of the Year” and receive a prize package worth approximately $15,000.00.
