One Way You Can Do That Is by Being Baptised

Why Baptism?

When you were born again, everything that needed to take place for your salvation was done by Jesus. All you did was believe.

But now that you are a child of God, it is only reasonable that you would want to respond to Jesus in a way that shows your love for Him.

One way you can do that is by being Baptised.

So, what is Baptism?

When Jesus was baptised, He identified with our sinful condition and was baptised for repentance of sin on our behalf. Jesus was baptised – He was fully immersed in water. We baptise in the same way.

Matthew 3:13-15

When we are baptised, we identify with Jesus’ death burial and resurrection and the new life that He secured for us.

Romans 6:4 By our baptism, then, we were buried with him and shared his death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life.

Colossians2:12 For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ through your faith in the active power of God, who raised him from death.

What Baptism is not

It does not cleanse us from our sin,
it is not necessary for salvation
it does not get you a better form of Christianity.

Baptism simply gives you an opportunity to demonstrate to God, your family, your community and all of heaven that you want to follow Jesus and live for Him.

Baptism is an outward demonstration of an inward transformation.

When you are Baptised:

You will be fully immersed in water, just and Jesus was.

You will be asked if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He was raised from the dead for you. You will also be asked if you have received His as your own personal Lord and Saviour.

All you need to do is reply “Yes, I do!”

You can fully expect the Holy Spirit to make an impact in your life at that point, just as He did when Jesus was baptised.

Matthew 3:16-17 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came up out of the water. Then heaven was opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and lighting on him. Then a voice said from heaven, "This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased."
