The information provided on this form will be used by the Faculty,SUPPORT and the Vice-President (Research) during the internal selection process. Should this project be selected as one of the proposals to be submitted to NSERC, the information provided below will also be of assistance in developing the Letter of Intent.

Aspects of the Program / 3 pages max
  • Describe how the proposed program will provide a value-added, innovative training experience that will raise the standard for best practices in research training and the development of professional skills(i.e. unique and interdisciplinary approaches to training, opportunities to develop professional skills, innovative research area that relates to current scientific or technical developments in the field).
  • Explain how the program will facilitate the transition ofdifferent categories of trainees (master’s doctorate and postdoctoral fellows) to productive employees in different sectors of the workforce (i.e. industry, government, not-for-profit and, to a lesser extent, academia).
  • Discuss the mobility of students and post-doctoral fellows between academic institutions and organizations either within Canada or abroad and describe how this will augment the research training experience.
  • Describe the complementarity of the team members who will deliver on the proposed training goals (i.e. rationale for the team composition and how the team has the necessary expertise to successfully execute the training program).
  • Discuss the quality and extent of the research team’s past contributions to the training highly qualified personnel.

  • Outlinesupport (from department, Faculty, institution, industry and any partner organizations) that will be required to successfully implement the proposed program. Support may include, but is not limited to, cash or in-kind support, release time from teaching requirements, infrastructure and new space and/or renovations to existing space for personnel andequipment, internships, etc. Please comment on plans to secure this support.

  • If applicable, please explain the role of participants in an ongoing or previously funded CREATE initiative relative to the newly proposed CREATE. Describe how the two initiatives differ from one another.
