NOTICE OF RACE and NOMINATION FORM

  1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY:

The organising authority is the Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club Inc (GRYC).

  1. WHERE AND WHEN:

The race will be held on Sunday 20th September, 2015 starting at the GRYC. Out and back: Goolwa-Rat Island-Goolwa

  1. CATEGORY OF RACE:

The race will be conducted as a Category 5 race according to the Yachting Australia Special Regulations part 2.01 “races with limited rescue availability, in protected waters in daylight hours”. All boats are to ensure they have the relevant safety equipment. For details visit:

  1. COURSE AND BRIEFING:

There will be a briefing at 0930hrs at GRYC and the first warning signal will be at 1000 hrs.

The exact course will be advised at the pre-race briefing, but if conditions are favourable, will include circumnavigation of Rat Island.

  1. DIVISIONS AND STARTING ORDER:

The race will be conducted in the following divisions, provided there are three or more nominations in each division. The starting order will be announced at the briefing.

Division 1 Vintage River BoatsDivision2 Monohull Yachts without spinnakers Division3 Monohull Yachts with spinnakers Division6 Multihull Yachts with accommodation

Division 5 “Off the Beach” catamarans with a VYS of less than 100

  1. INTER-CLUB CHALLENGE:

Clubscan nominate, prior to the pre-race briefing, a team/s with up to 4boats across divisions to compete in an inter-club challenge. The team who finishes the race with the lowest number of aggregate points from their top 3 places on corrected time will win the inter-club challenge. Entry fees for the inter-club challenge are a bottle of wine per entering boat to be later redistributed as prizes.

  1. PRIZES:

The winner of each division on corrected time will receive a prize and be named on the Dauntlus Cup perpetual trophy.

The 4 winning boats in the inter-club challenge will each receive a bottle (s) of wine.

GRYC members will be eligible for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes on personal handicap.

  1. GRYC SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:

See a copy of the GRYC sailing instructions.

  1. NOMINATIONS:

This is classed as an ‘open’ race. Nominations will also be available from the GRYC Clubhouse on the morning of the race and will be accepted up to 0930hrs on race day. Cash payments can be made in person at the Club.

Conditions of Entry

1. This race will be conducted as a Category 5 event (see under the current Yachting Australia Racing Rules of Sailing. All competitors shall be bound by these rules, the GRYC Sailing Instructions and additional instructions applying to the event.

2. I agree to read, understand and abide by the GRYC Sailing Instructions in all respects (see including the requirement to carry third party insurance and public liability cover of not less than ten million dollars ($10,000,000).
