Call for Letters ofInterest

DearGeorgiaPTA BoardMembers,

GeorgiaPTA is searchingfor the followingpositions:President-Elect,FirstVicePresident,SecondVicePresident,Secretary, and Treasurer.If you are interested,theattached nominationformmustbecompletedto beconsideredfor the2015Georgia PTA elections.As per GeorgiaPTA Bylaws the followinggoverns thosewhomaybe nominatedforelectedoffice.

ARTICLEVIII:Officers and TheirElection,Sections 4 and 5

Section 4.Thefollowingprovisions shallgovern the qualifications andeligibilityofindividuals to beofficers ofthe GeorgiaPTA:

a.Eachofficershallbe amember ofa localPTA chartered bythe GeorgiaPTA.

b.Allnominees must becurrent or formermembers ofthe GeorgiaPTA Board ofDirectors.

c.Noofficer maybe eligibleto serve morethanone (1)full termin thesameoffice.

d.A personwho has servedin an officefor more thanone half(1/2) ofa termshallbedeemed to haveserved a fullterm in suchoffice.

e.Nopersonshallholdmorethan one (1) statePTA positionsimultaneously.

Section 5.Eachofficerelectedat anannualconventionshalltakeoffice attheclose oftheelectionconventionand shallservefor a term oftwo (2) years or untiltheirsuccessor iselected.

Servingat the statelevelofPTA isanhonor and privilege, and itentailsa significantresponsibility.Assomeoneconsiders theirinterest andabilityto serve in thiscapacity, it is essentialtheyare familiarwiththeresponsibilities andexpectations fortheirposition(s)ofinterest.It is extremelyimportantthatpotentialofficers understandtheyareexpectedtoattendallfour (4) boardmeetings duringtheyear. Eachboardmeetinglasts two (2)days.Board members maybeasked toconductworkshops and providefieldservicesthatmayrequire travel.TheywillalsobeexpectedtoattendBoardOrientationTraining, and shouldattendGeorgiaPTA functions;such as AdvocacyTraining,PTA Dayat the Capitol,Reflections Reception,andother PTAevents. Pleasecontactthe NominatingCommitteeChairwith anyquestions regardingspecificofficerresponsibilities/duties andanyother questions .

ARTICLE IX: DUTIES OFOFFICERS

Section1.ThePresidentshall:ThecurrentPresident-Electwillmovetothisposition.

a.Bethechiefexecutiveofficeroftheassociation;

b.Signandexecuteallbonds,stockcertificates,mortgages,contracts,agreementsorotherobligationsinthenameoftheGeorgiaPTAasauthorizedbytheBoardofDirectors;

c.Presideatallannualconventions,meetingsoftheBoardofDirectors,theExecutiveCommittee,andanyothermeetingsoftheGeorgiaPTA;

d.Createandappointspecialcommitteesasnecessary;

e.AppointaparliamentarianwhoshallserveatmeetingsoftheExecutiveCommittee,BoardofDirectors,andconventionmeetings;theparliamentarianshallbeamemberoftheNationalAssociationofParliamentariansandshallbeanon-votingmemberoftheExecutiveCommitteeandBoardofDirectors;

f.ServeasamemberoftheBoardofTrustees;

g.Beamemberex-officioofallcommitteesoftheBoardofDirectorsexceptthecommitteeonnominationsandthecommitteeonelections;

h.ApproveallcommunicationsandmaterialstobedistributedbyboardmembersinthescopeoftheirPTAwork.

i.Coordinatetheworkoftheofficersandcommittees;

j.Presentawrittenreportofthepresident’sactivitiesandawrittenitemizedaccountofthepresident’sexpensesateachBoardofDirectorsmeeting;and

k.Performsuchotherdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylaws,prescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbytheBoardofDirectorsorExecutiveCommittee.

Section2.ThePresident-Electshall:

a.Workunderandincooperationwiththepresidentandfulfillsuchotherdutiesasmaybeassignedbythepresident;

b.Performthedutiesofthepresidentinthepresident’sabsenceorinabilitytoact;

c.ServeasamemberoftheFinanceCommittee;

d.ServeasamemberoftheBoardofTrustees;

e.Negotiatesconventioncontractsforthetwo(2)yearshe/shewillserveaspresident.Oncethecontractiscomplete,itwillbesignedbythepresident;

f.Attendasadelegate,theNationalPTALegislativeConferenceandtheNationalPTAConvention;

g.Presentawrittenreportofthepresident-elect’sactivitiesandawrittenitemizedaccountofthepresident-elect’sexpensesateachBoardofDirectorsmeeting;

h.RegistersignatureonallGeorgiaPTAfinancialaccounts;and

i.Performsuchotherdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylaws,prescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbytheBoardofDirectorsorExecutiveCommittee.

Section3.TheFirstVicePresidentshall:

a.Actasanaidetothepresident;

b.Performthedutiesofthepresidentintheabsenceofthepresidentandthepresident-electortheir

inabilitytoact;and

c.Performsuchdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylawsprescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbythepresident,theBoardofDirectors,ortheExecutiveCommittee.

Section4.TheSecondVicePresidentshall:

a.Actasanaidetothepresident;

b.Performthedutiesofthepresidentintheabsenceofthepresident,thepresident-elect,andthefirstvicepresidentortheirinabilitytoact;and

c.Performsuchdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylawsprescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbythepresident,theBoardofDirectors,ortheExecutiveCommittee.

Section5.TheSecretaryshall:

a.Keepanaccurateaccountofallmeetings;

b.SendacopyoftheminutestotheGeorgiaPTAstateoffice;

c.Bepreparedtoreadtherecords,oranyportionthereof,ofanypreviousmeetings;

d.Fileallrecordsinthestateoffice;and

e.Performsuchdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylaws,prescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbythepresident,theBoardofDirectors,ortheExecutiveCommittee.

Section6.TheTreasurershall:

a.MaintainafullaccountofthefundsoftheGeorgiaPTA;

b.CausetobekeptafullandaccurateaccountofthereceiptsanddisbursementsinbooksbelongingtotheGeorgiaPTA;

c.Countersignallcheckswiththepresidentoranofficerdesignatedbythepresident;

d.Provideawrittenfinancialstatementateachmeetingofthegeneralmembership,BoardofDirectorsandExecutiveCommitteemeetingorothertimesasrequired;

e.Presentanannualreportofthefinancialconditionoftheassociationtothebodyattheannualstateconvention;

f.ServeaschairpersonoftheFinanceCommittee;

g.ServeaschairpersonoftheBoardofTrustees;and

h.Performsuchdutiesasmaybeprovidedforbythesebylaws,prescribedbytheparliamentaryauthority,ordirectedbythepresident,theBoardofDirectors,ortheExecutiveCommittee.
