Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Invited to Perform On

the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage

Carlisle, Pa. (November 6, 2017) – Nicholas Ade, CEO of Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet (CPYB) in Carlisle, Pa., announced today that the school has been invited to perform on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage as part of a week celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Kennedy Center Honors.

CPYB will perform a selection of George Balanchine works the evening of November 29, 2017, on the Millennium Stage at 6 p.m. at the Kennedy Center.

Meg Booth, Director of Dance Programming at the Kennedy Center, said, “For dance on the Millennium Stage, we look to the best and brightest of the local, national and international dance community. Alumni of Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet have regularly appeared at the Kennedy Center, performing as members of great companies. Given the school’s reputation and connection to Balanchine choreography — the only school licensed to perform ‘The Nutcracker’annually — our dance programming team at the Kennedy Center felt it was a perfect opportunity to reach out for a tribute to Mr. Balanchine.”

CPYB will honor George Balanchine with a performance featuring some of his most beloved ballets, including Who Cares?, Western Symphony (2nd Movement), and dances from George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker.

“We are thrilled to have been chosen to participate in the Kennedy Center’s prestigious national celebration of the arts,” said Ade. “This will be a remarkable experience for our students and is affirmation of CPYB’s leadership in the world of dance education. We are taking CPYB to a national stage, which we are so proud of. Our dancers are honored to be part of this prominent event and excited to represent CPYB in this renowned venue.”
